I Want Your Skull

Being a very curvy and busty girl I've found that shirt shopping is an absolute nightmare. If a shirt fits me in the bust it won't fit me in the arms and visa versa - there is never a middle ground! I'm a size 16 so if I try plus size brands they won't fit me in the waist but give me ample room in the bust, a standard store gives me room everywhere else but then I get the button pop.

But after searching for years I went out on a limb and decided to try the latest offering from Wheels and Dollbaby as they have expanded their shirts to a size 16! Now let me gush about this brilliant shirt that is everything I've been looking for in a button up. I knew when reviewed the La Carla Bruni Blouse that I was going to have no issues with fit for this western style.

The Skull Western is a an amazing fit in the 16 and I can button it up over my bust and down to my hips without an issue (any pulls on the shirt are due to my bust being a little large due to a corset). It hugs my curves and is super soft and smooth as it's made from a cotton voile. 

Now lets just go crazy for the skull print please? It's hot!!! I love skulls but rarely do I wear them in such a bold print. This fabric had me smitten from moment one so I had to have it. 

This shirt has limited stretch so if you are unsure be sure to double check with with the size chart prior to purchasing. For non stretch items at Wheels & Dollbaby I tend to go for a 16. In stretch I can do 14 or 16 and for oversized items like the angora sweaters I wear a size 10. 

I've paired this shirt with the amazing Irma La Douce Skirt in red and my all time favourite polka dot Teeze platforms from Shoe Me Gorgeous. I love the mix of prints and one bold, bright solid and mixing up two different prints in the same colours. 


If you are looking for a silky high waisted pencil skirt full of sex appeal and va-va-voom then look no further. The Irma is a stunning creation made from double layered stretch matte deluxe satin and is soft like butter. The stretch satin is hugs your body and stretches that much I could have gone down one size for a tighter fit. I adore the bold black plus velvet buttons which are actually functional, you can open a few for a higher slit or just wear it as shown.

Loving the red, black and white combo here and how well they work together. I'm so very in love with the Irma and need it in ever colour including black, Mary Antoinette and leopard print. They are perfect for all seasons and I would love to style the leopard version next autumn and winter.


Now for a closer look at my amazing fascinator from the amazing Gigi's Retro Closet. When I found this style at Halloween I had to snap it up as it's everything I adore all rolled up into one amazing piece. Packed with red and black roses, glitter, skulls, spiders and more and it's not just for Halloween! Now Gigi's is currently sold out of this style but there are so many more items you can choose from or you can make a custom order for whatever you heart may desire! I think I need to get this amazingly talented designer to create me something unique for my wedding next year. Below are a few styles that are close to this spooky headpiece.

For the curvier dollbaby

As promised I have a list of items from Wheels & Dollbaby that are produced in sizes 14 and 16! Thanks to the super wonderful Vanessa at HQ I can share all the items that fit us girls with a little more curve.

As with all clothing I take note of the fabric and gather the amount of stretch. I've shot so many items from this amazing brand and I've worn anything from a 12 to a 16 and you can find links to all of my reviews here. Please note some styles stop at a 14 and others a 16 so please contact me for any fit questions. If you don't see the size listed then sadly it may have sold out.

















So the next time you see your favourite  style or print but think that it won't fit be sure to check out the size range and check back here for any fit questions. I've worn a dozen or so of these styles and fabrics so I should be able to help you asap!

The Mantrap

A little while ago, an amazing surprise arrived at my door, wrapped in printed pink tissue paper and tied with a bow. It's safe to say I was blown away by what was hidden inside.


Once I dreamed of the silky wiggle dresses from Wheels & Dollbaby but never thought I'd be able to fit into them, let alone look good in one. Well I'm proud to say I've ticked both boxes and it feels AMAZING! This dress HAD to be captured on film by the one and only Brooke Orchard Photography . Brooke is the best pinup and retro inspired photographer that Australia has to offer and I feel absolutely honoured to have had the chance to work with her many times this past year. I adore her that much I've booked her for my wedding!



Introducing the Mantrap dress in glorious deluxe imported satin from the Star De Cinémar’ Collection! This wiggle dress is designed for curves and hugs every one of them. With a sweeping off the shoulder neckline, hourglass silhouette and amazing fabric details this dress will make you feel like a goddess of the silver screen.  


The fabric is buttery smooth and an absolute dream to wear. I originally received a size 14 in this dress but exchanged it for a 16. The 14 was a great fit all over my body but the arms were a little restricting. So sizing up made more room to move and now my arms fit in perfectly. I've found that I fit anywhere from a 12 to a 16 in Wheels & Dollbaby depending on fabrics. 


The mantrap dress is also equip with a powermesh and an inbuilt boned bodice which will give you that extra shape and lift. This alone is great but I felt I needed more lift and shape to show this dress off perfectly so I've paired it will the new Curvy Kate Luxe Strapless bra and my CS-426 Longline Underbust Corset from Orchard Corset. Combined these two brilliant undergarments gave me that extra vavavoom shape and great support. 



Now I usually would not flash my draws for the general public but I have to show how these two brilliant undergarments paired with the dress create such a hot shape! I now wear this style corset on most of my shoots and the bra, well, I think it speaks for itself. 

This strapless multiway bra (please note straps are included if you wish to use them) is amazing! The soft cups hold my GG bust perfectly and there is no fear of spillage, a boob popping out or a morphed odd shape. It's like wearing a normal bra with invisible straps. I'm wearing the Luxe in a size 34GG and the fit is spot on! For years we large busted ladies have needed a product like this and I'm sure I'll be fearing many more times as summer rolls in. P.s This also passes the jump text - that alone is reason to get this bra!


I paired this dress with and without accessories for this shoot. For all images I wore the most amazingly bright and sparkly Stardust Gold Digger Tear Earrings $22.00 from Kat Frankie's. The simple design and sparkling brilliance adds that extra element of glamour to the look. I also added a white gold and diamond necklace from my collection but you can easily wear any colour or style necklace with this dress! 

Not a fan of a strapless dress? This also pairs wonderfully with the full range of cardigans and boleros available in the Knitwear section at Wheels & Dollbaby.



The Mantrap is also available in babycat print, peaches'n'cream and black although size availability may differ. What every dollbaby needs

There are so many amazing new items this week on Wheels and Dollbaby so I wanted to share my personal favorites with you.

With the latest  collection of the Butterfield 8, inspired by Elizabeth Taylor you will find so many new styles, prints and options. From floral, leopard, traditional and new prints and leather you'll be drooling instantly!

The items I'm currently swooning over are :


 Black Angora Shrug with Clasp - $110.00

The perfect addition to any wiggle dress or pinup top. This style will match with so many vintage style dresses and the clasp adds that extra touch of elegance on top of the lush angora.

Black and baby blue - two colours I've never worn before but after seeing my all time favorite style in this colour way I must have it! Paired with a leather pencil skirt this look is absolute perfection.



Dollbaby Sweater - $165.00

A simple and classic piece ever Dollbaby needs in their wardrobe.  This will be your go to sweater. Currently available in a size 16 for my W&DB fans with curves. I myself wear a 14 and sometimes a 16.

I'm  obsessed in raglan style tees at the moment and this print has stolen my heart. The masked fox is adorable!! Perfect to wear with black skinny jeans, high waist short, leather and pencil skirts! This is can be dressed up or down, day or night.



 The perfect 'I stole this off my man' shirt.Customized with the W&DB skull and a loose fit you can rock this skirt in any way you wish. Or if your feeling generous buy it for your man.



And lastly my current need accessory wise one of the lust and purrfect silk scarves. These make any outfit look amazing. I love the pale blue floral print on this style.

Très chic

Recently a wonderful care package arrived on my door, inside my most lusted after Wheels & Dollbaby garments and a little note from the super stunning  and talented Melanie Greensmith.

Since trying the knitwear range from W&DB I've been interested to know the fit on other garments so when these arrived I started to plan a shoot to suit these perfectly!

With a small sent built in my house  Keren Dobia (photographer), Dani Frankenstein (MUA) and I went to work on showcasing these amazing garments on a curvy figure!

I've found my perfect black pencil skirt! The stretch jersey fabric in this skirt allows for the most figure hugging perfect fit. The fabric is thick and sturdy and bounces back into it's original shape after each wear. Topped off with an embroidered Wheels & Dollbaby logo this is an essential wardrobe staple.

I'm wearing this garment in a size 14 and the fit is spot on!



Now I own this style in black but as soon as I saw the red version I knew I needed in my life. This is a classic must have the range. From the front it appears to be a simple yet stunning cardgian with a small 'Dollbaby' embroidered on the bust. Turn around and you have the classic Wheels logo motif on the back with roses, dollbaby and the Gretsch guitar! I can't wait to pair this with dresses, more skirts and high waist jeans and shorts. This style suits everything in your wardrobe!

I'm wearing this style in a 16 and it's a little roomier obviously than my black which is a 14.  I do like the larger fit for this cardigan so the back print does not get stretched.

How adorable is this top!! The delicate ruffle around the neckline and sleeves, the soft stretch fabric and the very sweet wheels and dollbaby charm make this a classic pinup style top. Fit wise this top is soft, super stretchy and form fitting. The arm wholes are perfect for my upper arms which I personally think are rather large. I'm wearing this top in a 14 and it is perfect! The fabric allows a little give so being inbetween sizes I know that this style is a good fit at a 14 and I will pick a few more up in the future. 


Horizontal stripes only make your curves more curvy so don't be afraid of them! 


Not a fan of the nautical stripe? Well you can pick from a variety of different colour combinations in the cupcake ruffle top :

I wanted to work my favorite style the Dita Cardigan into this shoot as well. You can read all about the fit of this item in my previous blog : Dita Cardigan - Perfect for Curves!

The essential logo skirt works perfectly both with tops tucked in and on top and by adding a simple bow belt you can make it look like another skirt or dress (if you pair this with plain black).

I will be living in these items all year round!!

I can't thank my amazing team on this shoot enough!  Keren Dobia is such an inspiring and creative woman and a joy to model for! Dani Frankenstein did an amazing job at turning my plain face into pinup perfection and I can't wait to work with her again.
