Birds of Paradise

As the new season stock rolls into Wheels and Dollbaby I finally got the chance to shoot and review my favourite items! With stunning new stock and some classic pieces I'm going to have to admit that this season I'm absolutely smitten with everything!

Wool Beret - $45.00

While the logical side of my brain would tell me you don't need another Wednesday Addams style dress in your collection, the peter pan collar fashion loving freak screamed at logic and I snapped up this dress as soon as it arrived!  Made from stretch matte ponti which both hugs your curves and holds you in tight, the Finishing School Dress is what dreams are made of.

With a tailored waist, my favourite 3/4 length sleeve. pleated skirt and scallop edge collar this is one of the most flattering style high neck dresses I've ever owned.

I'm wearing this style in a 16 and it's so comfortable yet the perfect tailoring and bow/collar combination make it a perfect dress for winter dinner dates. The adorable skinny belt and navy blue bow complete the vintage almost mod vibe of this frock and I honestly can't get enough of it! I'm just crazy for this dress and I can't wait to take it out tonight! Perfect for both work and play you can style this dress up or down with platform pump or a cute ballet flat. I can't wait to pair this with lace up black boots and stockings all winter long.

With such a bold and cute collar I wanted to make my accessories pop just as much as the dress does so I paired this dress with the latest addition to my glove collection.

I've recently found an amazing Sydney based company who specialize in leather gloves with a mixture of both vintage and modern styling. Have to Have are now my leather glove mecca and I've included some of their styles in this shoot and a bit editorial I have coming up with Adore Pinup Magazine; I can't wait to share that one with you guys! For this outfit I chose the red leather dotti gloves with white dots and they are pinup perfection. Also available in black and white which I also have they fit tight at first then mold to your hands as all good gloves should. I'm usually a small to medium in gloves so I went for the size 7 (medium) and they fit like a dream. If there is one accessory item I can highly advise you to invest in it has to be leather gloves. They last forever and look amazing all season long.

Essential Logo Skirt
Gloves - From my Own Collection
Beret - Ebay

There is something about a scarlet red cardigan that makes me go weak at the knees and the new Birds of Paradise cardigan is absolutely gorgeous. It's a rich red viscose elastane knit that never looses it's shape but hugs all your curves. Featuring satin finish embroidery features exotic birds of paradise, luxurious feminine florals and elegant peacocks and a 1950s inspired sleeve with gathering and padding create an elegant long shoulder line.

What I love most about Wheels and Dollbaby cardigans have to be all the perfect little details. The velvet covered buttons in a bold contrasting black and the pleated edging on the sleeve and bottom of this cardigan.

I'm wearing this style and all items within this post in a size 16 and the fit is perfect! There is not button popping or gaping and it shoes just the right about of cleavage for my taste which is, let's face it, "Boobs visible always". I was worried at first about the pleated shoulder and though it might bulk my upper arms up too much but it's ended up being very flattering.

The birds of paradise embroidery is lush and so intricate featuring amazing bird and flowers. I really adore the colours used as I'd usually not think they would work on such a deep red but they really pop. I honestly can't get enough of this colour and love how it pairs with my pale skin and red hair.

Essential Logo Skirt

The dollbaby sweater - a classic I've worn in leopard print once before but never in black and I have no idea what took me so long!! This sweater is a classic 50's fit perfect for absolutely any skirt, high waist short or jean. Versatile, super stretchy and so easy to style and the small Dollbaby emblem and black bow make this sweater absolutely adorable.

I'm loving all of the high necked styles from Wheels and Dollbaby and how much that flatter my rather large bustline. The fit of this cardigan in a size 16 is perfect for my bust to waist ratio due to the stretch of the knitted fabric. It also nips in at the waist to emphasize your waist and this makes it an ideal cardigan for winter pinup outfits. While I did not keep this sweater it is the next thing on my lust list and I will be wearing this to death.

For an all black outfit I wanted a little pop of print with my accessories and while I stayed safe with my charcoal beret I had a little more fun with my gloves. The vento style is a stunning all black leather glove with cashmere lining and a bold leopard print cuff. While I'm usually not too crazy for leopard print I absolutely love these gloves. They really pop on an all black outfit and I can't wait to show you more images of them!

This whole outfit is making me want dress a retro french spy each and every day this winter.

Polka Dot Skirt - $198.00
Wool Beret - $45.00

More polka dots!! But this time in a colour you rarely see me in - blue. Although I love blue and navy I find it hard to pair with both shoes and other items of clothing but after seeing these images I see that black and this shade of blue are perfect together.

This button up shirt is made from a super stretchy yet silky soft fabric that feels amazing to wear. I'm wearing the 16 and like all the other Dollbaby button ups I own it actually buttons up over my chest with ease! Now this shirt naturally hits the top of my hips and is a great length for jeans and shorts but when paired it with a high waisted skirt I wanted to show off my waist like so the waist tie style worked best.

The blue and white polka dot fabric is so soft and I love the fitted cuff and long sleeve as it really flatters my arms. This style is also available in leopard print and I really hope that more prints or colour ways come out in this exact shirt. I'd love a super stretchy western or a vintage tattoo dollbaby print in this style.

I also think that the combination of black. navy and raspberry might just be my new favourite for winter so now I need to add a little more blue and white to my collection!

Now I've paired all of these tops included in this post with my Dollbaby Essential logo skirt which is now out of stock. For the closest curve hugging fit I can highly recommend the Deadly Nights Pencil Skirt as I wore these style in a 14 on the runway and it's amazing.

Last but not least I finally had a chance to shoot the absolutely stunning Birds of Paradise ballet dress. This sheer sleeved faux wrap dress is an absolute must have for any curvy Dollbaby. The wrap style top, pleated skirt and 3/4 sleeve make this one of the most flattering and easy to wear dresses in the collection. Available in both plain back and bird motif this dress suits all shapes and sizes and if you are busty it makes your chest look amazing!

Featuring the power mesh fabric I've come to know and love this dress is form fitting up top and super flowy from the waist down. There is also a black faux velvet tie at the back to add that extra waist definition. In a 16 this dress fits firmly but due to the stretch power mesh you have lots of freedom in the arms and a skirt that you just can't help but twirl. I love how this style is transeasonal as well being perfect for spring or paired with boots, stockings and a leather jacket in the winter.

All items featured in this post can be purchased in sizes 14 and 16 and if you need any extra help with measurements please feel free to comment below. Many thanks again to Liz from L2 Photography
working with me on this shoot and capturing these amazing styles perfectly. I can't wait to plan some more creative shoots with you!

Poison Ivy

Cue Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs while I shimmy and shake over the new Poison Ivy range released today at Wheels and Dollbaby, with a stunning new print featuring an exquisite portrayal of exotic birds of paradise, printed over signature imported stretch satin. Highlights for this season include curve hugging silhouettes (perfect for those with curves to kill), embroidered leather and knits, lots of embellishments and some stunning red carpet-worthy gowns.

This campaign was shot in Melanie's Sydney home, The Del Rio and the look book is absolute perfection. Australian model Simone Holtznagel is a dream in this set of images and makes each and every item look divine.

Here are a few of my absolute favourites that will fit up to a size 14 and 16!

My absolute dream dress has to be the Birds of Paradise Ballet Dress! Every single aspect of this style is my ultimate outfit. With a 3/4 length sleeve, the pleated skirt the plunging wrap neckline and the stunning embroidery this is the perfect dress for an hour glass figure. The powermesh is also a dream to wear as it holds you tight without restricting movement. I wore a powermesh skirt and top when I was on the runway for Wheels & Dollbaby in Perth and I instantly fell in love with the fabric. Up to a size 16 this style is a must have for Autumn, Winter and Spring and the styling possibilities are endless. This style also comes in plain black without the featured embroidery ($255) but this one is number one on my list.

Next is the amazing Paradise Leather Jacket. Two Wheels moto/biker jackets in my collection and I love them dearly but I never thought that anything could top the Bluebird embroidered design I already own. The Paradise Jacket has done this with a stunning colour embroidered bird pattered on the front and sleeves of this awesome moto and with a new logo back patch! I know I don't have room for another leather jacket in my collection but holy hell I want this one! The jacket is available up to a to a 16 but I wear a 14 in the motos.

Now lets talk knits! The new season cardigan is the perfect for any Dita Cardigan collector as it has two things we adore about that style included in the design. The cardigan showcases the exquisite ‘Birds Of Paradise’ chinoiserie motif, black velvet buttons and black pleated edging around the 3/4 legnth sleeve and bottom of the cardigan. I love the gathered and padded shoulder as it creates a bold shape and add an extra element to what most knits are lacking. This item is available up to a 14 but this fits a 16 with ease. I own both sizes in most cardigans.

While this next item is not a new season style I had to included it as I'm a huge fan of each and every sweater in store! The plain black sweater with simple white 'Dollbaby' embroidered  on the front is a key item for any girls wardrobe as we head into Autumn and Winter. This sweater goes with everything and the super stretchy knit hugs you in all of the right places.

I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw a new fabric version of the Irma La Douce Pencil Skirt in the catalog. I've shot this style every few seasons and the fit is amazing on my super hippy shape. I've worn this style in both the 14 and 16 (in store in both sizes) and I find the 14 to be a more perfect fit as the fabric is stretchy and soft. When you get this skirt in your hands you will be amazed by how soft and luxurious it feels. I wear this style with the buttons open up the the middle of my thigh but you can wear this in many ways as each button is functioning.

The new red fabric is so rich and yummy and it pairs perfectly with the Paradise Pleat Cardigan. Much like the red cardigan shown above but in a perfect black knit fabric. While I love the red cardigan I get so much more wear from black in my wardrobe it seems and looking at this style next to the Irma skirt I think combined they create the most perfect curve hugging outfit. Available up to a size 14.

Now I wanted to feature all of the stunning gowns from this new range but sadly they don't go up to a size 16! But I did find one item that I'm lusting after featuring the Mata Hari Snake embellishment. I adore my Wheels and Dollbaby pencil skirts as they never loose their shape and fit like a dream. But who needs a plain black wiggle when you can get an amazing sequin snake wrapped around your waist. No need for waist belts as this snake creates the same cinching effect. If you look super close you can see the snake has ruby red eyes as well, making it a little more evil and awesome. This style goes up to a size 16.

Next on my list is the Le Fox makeup bag. I arrived home last week to the amazing handbag version of this (jumped up and down, did a happy dance and then hugged it) and I think I definitely need the makeup bag to match.

Le Fox Tote Bag - $295.00

I've been smitten with the Le Fox visual of years now but I missed out on any of the clothing items so once this was released I knew I could finally have it in my collection. Each item is made from faux leather so if you are vegan this is for you! With an adorable masked fox printed on the front and a super soft faux fox tail this is my most treasured handbag. I can't wait to use it in a shoot this weekend!

What are you stand out favourites from the Poison Ivy Collection?

The Curvy Dollbaby

Just a few days ago I was gushing (I still am and this won't stop!) about the new collection from Wheels & Dollbaby, but only a few days earlier, I had the chance to shoot some of my favourite pieces from the previous few collections.

On the lead up to the sold out Wheels & Dollbaby runway show I wanted to show how some of the core items fit on a size 16 frame. When I first started collecting Dollbaby pieces I played it safe and only wore cardigans but now there are so many sultry styles that fit me so I can wear just about everything!

Due to popular demand the BB dress has just been released in a size 16 in both black and red. This style was so popular in the Inky Pinky print that they made the core range styles up to a size 16 for all of us curvier dollbabys. Made from a silky deluxe stretch satin this is delight to wear and so soft to the touch.

Now this is a very 'mini' style and you have to be super confident with your pins to pull this short length off. If you are blessed with an ample bust and rump you will find that your assets can make a mini a super mini. This just covers my toosh and I think when paired with stockings or tights in the cooler months this will be brilliant.

Be it summer or winter the styling options are endless with the BB Dress. Pair with tights and thigh high boots, cardigans or jackets in the cooler months and light layers in the spring or summer.

The deep V neckline is super low and with a GG chest like mine going braless is never an option. So I opted to wear a bold printed low cut style from the Dita Von Teese collection that's both bold visually and unique with its design. Pairing these two styles almost creates a new style dress and I love that!

I also paired this stunning dress with one of my favourite cardigans in emerald green. I'm wearing this in a size 16 but the 14 also fits with ease. I tend to wear plain W&DB cardigans with no print in a size 14 and the back prints in a larger size so I don't crack or harm the image.

Now for my all time favourite items! I'm head over heels for the La Carla Bruni blouse and it's spectacular fit. It buttons up without any pulls or popping, fit's my arms and is roomy enough at the waist to tie, tuck or wear loose.

In the past I've worn this shirt in a size 14 and I found the upper arms a little tight so I opted for a 16 this time. The fit is roomy yet structured and I'm smitten with the leopard fabric! If I could wear one shirt for the rest of my life it would be this one!

What do you pair a brilliant blouse like this with? Obviously Irma La Douce skirt in red! Now this is the second time I've shot this skirt and the moment I wiggled into this style I new it was one of the best wiggle skirts I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. I've tried this in both a 14 and a 16 and I really love the tighter fit of the 14 in this style. The fabric has heaps of stretch and the buttons can be undone to create a higher split.

I feel amazing in this shirt that much so I will be ordering it to keep asap. I've never been a huge fan of leopard print but W&DB have changed and this will be the second item with such a sultry print in my collection.

Now I can't shoot all of these styles without the new Mermaid Classic Cardigan being included. I have 3 classic cardigans and I wear them to death. The match with everything, can be worn buttoned up or tied up and look amazing on every body shape. This style comes with a super cute mermaid motif printed on the back and the classic dollbaby embroidery on the front.

I love the pairing of the La Carla Bruni Blouse and the Irma La Douce skirt so much I mixed up the colours and prints for another brilliant outfit. This time a solid top with a printed skirt on the bottom. As I've mentioned all of the size info on these two styles let me gush about the print and fabric choices.

The leopard print is bold and sexy. The silky soft fabric hugs those curves and I love how the bold black button pair with the black blouse. It's a tough choice picking between these two outfits but I honestly love them both! I feel like a naughty secretary in these and I LOVE that!

In the past I have worn plain black bras underneath these sheer styles but this time I wanted to pair the skirt with my stunning leopard print bra. I love how it pops through the semi sheer georgette fabric and pairs perfectly with the print of the skirt.

The sheer fabric and printed bra combination has inspired me to test this out with all of my other bold bras.

Finally a style I've not thought to try before but once I slipped into the soft and fluffy angora knit I was sold. The cropped Posh Girl Sweater is yet another leopard print style that I'm really loving. It's stretchy, soft to the touch and so comfortable. This style works with high waisted skirts, capris and jeans and is super versatile.

I always feared jumpers in this fabric as I thought they'd add extra bulk to my frame but I really dig the fit and the look of this. I paired the Post Girl Sweater with the adorable charmed pearl brooch and my favourite swing style skirt for a super 1950's look. The angora fabric does transfer so keep this away from any other black knits or else keep a clothes brush close by. This sweater is on special right now and available in size 14 and 16 so snap it up while you can. Both fit perfectly so it you are after a tighter fit I'd suggest the 14.

That's my curvy picks from the last few seasons and I hope that helps with any fit issues you may be having. My next  Wheels & Dollbaby blog post will be all about the runway show so be sure to follow me on Facebook and Instagram and see all my behind the scenes previews!

I Want Your Skull

Being a very curvy and busty girl I've found that shirt shopping is an absolute nightmare. If a shirt fits me in the bust it won't fit me in the arms and visa versa - there is never a middle ground! I'm a size 16 so if I try plus size brands they won't fit me in the waist but give me ample room in the bust, a standard store gives me room everywhere else but then I get the button pop.

But after searching for years I went out on a limb and decided to try the latest offering from Wheels and Dollbaby as they have expanded their shirts to a size 16! Now let me gush about this brilliant shirt that is everything I've been looking for in a button up. I knew when reviewed the La Carla Bruni Blouse that I was going to have no issues with fit for this western style.

The Skull Western is a an amazing fit in the 16 and I can button it up over my bust and down to my hips without an issue (any pulls on the shirt are due to my bust being a little large due to a corset). It hugs my curves and is super soft and smooth as it's made from a cotton voile.

Now lets just go crazy for the skull print please? It's hot!!! I love skulls but rarely do I wear them in such a bold print. This fabric had me smitten from moment one so I had to have it.

This shirt has limited stretch so if you are unsure be sure to double check with with the size chart prior to purchasing. For non stretch items at Wheels & Dollbaby I tend to go for a 16. In stretch I can do 14 or 16 and for oversized items like the angora sweaters I wear a size 10.

I've paired this shirt with the amazing Irma La Douce Skirt in red and my all time favourite polka dot Teeze platforms from Shoe Me Gorgeous. I love the mix of prints and one bold, bright solid and mixing up two different prints in the same colours.

If you are looking for a silky high waisted pencil skirt full of sex appeal and va-va-voom then look no further. The Irma is a stunning creation made from double layered stretch matte deluxe satin and is soft like butter. The stretch satin is hugs your body and stretches that much I could have gone down one size for a tighter fit. I adore the bold black plus velvet buttons which are actually functional, you can open a few for a higher slit or just wear it as shown.

Loving the red, black and white combo here and how well they work together. I'm so very in love with the Irma and need it in ever colour including black, Mary Antoinette and leopard print. They are perfect for all seasons and I would love to style the leopard version next autumn and winter.

Now for a closer look at my amazing fascinator from the amazing Gigi's Retro Closet. When I found this style at Halloween I had to snap it up as it's everything I adore all rolled up into one amazing piece. Packed with red and black roses, glitter, skulls, spiders and more and it's not just for Halloween! Now Gigi's is currently sold out of this style but there are so many more items you can choose from or you can make a custom order for whatever you heart may desire! I think I need to get this amazingly talented designer to create me something unique for my wedding next year. Below are a few styles that are close to this spooky headpiece.

My True Love - $29.00

How amazing are these babies? I think I need to spoil myself once a month so I can shoot them forever.

Many thanks to the always brilliant Julz Photography for shooting these images with me and for making me feel amazing! Can't wait to shoot more with you in the new year!
