The Bone Brigade Are Back!

This year Erstwilder have blessed us with two spooky Halloween themed releases and I personally can't get enough of each and every piece. For release number 2, Team Erstwilder have brought back the Bone Brigade with a few new friends.

Last season I snapped up the kitten version of these skelly friends but this year I was immediately attracted to the Flamingo and Raven.

As a mad fan of all things pink flamingo related it was only logical that my next step would be to start collecting undead versions of this brilliant bird. This piece perfectly captures all of the brilliance of a flamingo with that adorable macabre vibe.

Seriously how cute is this little guy? Complete with golden crown this flamingo is divine and I can't wait to pair with each and every spooky piece from my wardrobe.

RIP RAVEN BROOCH - $39.95

My second piece and extra feathered (or featherless as the case would be) friend is the Edgar Alan Poe inspired Raven! I've been readying Poe's work since I was a wee kiddo and I've always loved how dark and spooky each and every poem is.

The Raven is one of the most well known and iconic poems from his collection and Erstwilder have capture this amazing creature in brooch form.

Complete with a little red POE novel upon his breast, this raven is by far my favourite piece from this release. Very fitting for an old goth/pinup like myself and a must have for all horror/Halloween collectors.

Which piece will you be snapping up from this collection?

Out of the shadows

It's that wonderful point in the year where we start counting down the days to Halloween! Or if your a spooky loving, horror fiend it's the time of year when all your favourite companies release their frightening new releases for the season and you buy up big!

Today Ertwilder have released their first of two amazing Halloween collections! Now clearly after collecting Erstwilder for many moons this is the collection I look forward to each and every year.

For Halloween 2019 they have gone a little bit retro/vintage with the stunning orange and black based pieces. As a true Halloween nerd I follow a lot of Vintage Halloween decorations pages and this selection of brooches, necklaces and earrings completely embodies this vibe.

On Haunted Hill - $39.95
Lilac Cat Beret -  £30.00

I'll always have a certain soft spot for a bold round brooch and in this release I feel hard for two! I'm also lacking houses or buildings in my brooch collection so from the moment I saw this super spooky haunted house I was in love.

This amazingly qwirky black house sits on a haunted hill with a bold orange background. Bats fly in that deep orange sky and the rounded shape makes look like a little horror movie scene.

When I first saw this piece I instantly thought of the film Psycho and the Bates home on the hill and that just made me want it even more so.

I'm absolutely crazy about all things bat related this year! From accessories to outfits, home wears, prints and more! So imagine my surprise when I discovered these adorably Gothic little batties in the latest collection.

The iconic bat spread wing outline works perfectly in earring form and I love how perfect the red line work accents these little critters. The red line work on each piece makes me thing of traditional pinstripe on cars and bikes in the rockabilly scene and makes me love these oh so much!

Itsy Bitsy - $39.95

If you can't tell purely based on my outfit choice I'm a little obsessed with spider webs! The intricate patterns, sparkles and amazing natural artistry inspire so many looks for me at this point in the year. Couple that with a cute little critter and we might just have the best Halloween brooch ever made!

Itsy Bitsy is a sassy little spider with jeweled accents on each leg and the perfect spider like resin finish. Placed perfectly on the little black web and based on the same bright orange shade of the first piece.

You see I always knew I loved spider webs but now I'm absolutely obsessed with orange and black web prints and need more in my world.

While the haunted hill house is very much a Halloween time brooch I think this piece will be perfect for all year round wear

Now these are just a small selection of this STUNNING collection so be sure to pop online now and snap up your stand out favourite pieces.

A little lace and a lotta spook!

Each year Hell Bunny gives me two huge reasons to celebrate. The first and by far my favourite theme has to be their spooky Halloween releases. Full of plus velvet fabrics, stunning prints and amazing details.

This Halloween season I've picked a few stunning pieces that capture my daily and creepy style perfectly so settle in and prepare to get stylish and spooky.

Ricci Dress - $96.00

Yes I own way too many Wednesday Adams inspired dresses but I can't help it. They fit my shape perfectly and really appeal to me with those fine details.

The Ricci Dress, appropriately named after Christina Ricci herself is my latest obsession. A high necked skater style stretchy cotton dress with delicate lace detailing on the collar and cuffs. A velvet bow and charm details complete the lace collar which like the cuffs is completely detachable. Yes you hear that right this dress is a 2 for 1 purchase. You get a full spooky look with the collar/cuff combo and be simply removing each piece (secured by bottons) you have an amazing fitting black skater dress.

I'm wearing this style in a 2XL and the fit's actually really roomy. I have heaps of room in the upper arm and should region so I think I might also purchase an XL for a more firm fit around that section and on the bust. The 2XL has a little too much bulk for me in the top section so I'm keen to size down.

The skirt is a really flattering length and whenever I wear this I get heaps of complements. It's also a great Transeasonal piece as you can layer this in winter or pair it with cute mary janes as the weather warms up.

Next we have the Graveyard Mini! A style  I'm very use to from Hell Bunny - a super short sleeved mini dress with bow tie and collar detailing. While I'm not a fan of the shorter sleeve I actually ordered this style to pair with black velvet ballet cardigans in my collection.

This style skims the hips, has heaps of room due to the stretch fabric and really does look great on a busty girl. I'm wearing the 2XL and the fit is spot on for me but I would like to see this style in a midi with a 3/4 length sleeve. As a girl with chunky upper arms I'm never a fan of a small cap sleeve but when paired with cardigans this is adorable!

What makes this dress pop is the graveyard detailing on the collar. Those little embroidered elements make this dress a show stopper.

You also might have noticed my brilliant claws in each of these images. My absolute favourite creator Nightmare Nails made some serial killer magic in nail form for me. Featuring all of the iconic and creepy serial killers of the 20th century - a perfect accessory if you are a true crime buff like myself.

Sabrina Dress - £47.99
Demonia Cramps-06 Platforms - $132.95
Old Moto Crop

Roses and spiderwebs are such a popular print and the Sabrina captures this retro repo trend with a spooky vibe perfectly. A full skirted (with pockets) sweetheart neckline dress that's make for an hourglass shape.

My shape however it's not working for. I'm wearing the 2XL and I can't get it zipped above my waist. I'm no where near a 3XL in any Hell Bunny garments but I'm sure I'd need to size up to one in order to be able to wear this style. So if you are contemplating this dress be sure to go one size up when you order.

This could also bee a miss labeled garment so I'll need to double check the flat lay measurements on this dress with the size chart or other sizes.

Vamp Jumper - £35.99

Lastly we have one super cute and creepy jumper. I've never been a fan of knitted jumpers as I thought they'd add a little too much bulk to my frame but I put paranoia aside and went with this amazing little black and white bat knit.

I'm so glad I gave this newer style a chance as I absolutely love it! It's the perfect crop shape to wear in or out of wiggles and swings, has a sleeve that hits just above the elbow and a super cute bat shaped motif.  This style has made me believe I can give into more and more high necklines and knits so I can't wait to add more to my collection over time.

Many thanks to Damien Bowerman for all of his help shooting these spooky looks with me!!

Lindy Boo-Bop!

Lindy Bop are absolutely killing it this year with Halloween prints and I've been lusting after ever single pattern and shape.  From darn and spooky locations to super cute kitties and jack'o'lantern fabrics the choices are endless.

Heart of Haute Blue Sweet Sweater (sold out but click to find all other colours) - $42.00

So for this review I've picked my stand out favourite from the spooky Halloween collection and my must have lindy bop frock. If you don't already have these babies in your wardrobe then snap them up quick fast.

Being a redhead I'm a sucker for a green frock so when I discovered the Witch Doctor Swing I knew it must be mine. A swing dress with an adorable border print, fitted waist and a high neckline - perfect for this week at work as I count down to the 31st.

This is my first time trying the higher neckline items from Lindy Bop and at first I was worried about my GG's fitting into such a high neckline but in the 18 all of these fears were dismissed and I have extra room. This fits with ease and does not pull or strain over my chest like many higher necklines can.

The fit is very modest and great for office pinups. I'm actually that smitten with the shape and how flattering it is to my figure so I'll be snapping up any other versions of this dress, the Delta in the future. Oh and I nearly forgot to mention both dresses have pockets!! YAY!

Accessorizing is super easy with this dress as you can easily pick out a colour in the print and match your shoes and sweaters with it. While I'd usually got with black for both shoes and a cover up I wanted to add even more colour so I paired this look with my bright blue Sweet Sweater from Heart of Haute and I love the combo.

I honestly can't get enough of this and all of Lindy Bops prints. They are so cute and bright and I must collect them all!

'Corinna' Red Love Heart Print Swing Dress - Was: AU$60.00  Now on sale for AU$29.00

Now for my MUST HAVE dress from Lindy Bop - the Corinna. This is my second Corinna and I keep snapping this style up because it's pure magic. A full swing skirt, button up bust and a sweetheart neckline which is absolutely perfect for curves. With delicate little white ribbon features on the bust and pockets and the perfect fit due to the elastic back panel this dress is my go to in summer.

I'm wearing an 18 and it's an amazing fit with a tiny amount of pull on the buttons. This is easily fixed with a little red thread and some hand sewing. I've actually sewn my Corinna up at the buttons as it's super stretchy and you don't need to undo them to get in and out of the dress.

The polka dot heart print is the cutest and I hope to see it released in black or other shades in the future.

If you are smaller chested and the same waist size as me you could even size down to a 16 with ease as that stretchy back panel really helps mold to your shape.

I opted to go full red for this look pairing the Corinna with a red Sweet Sweater and two velvet red roses from Miz Smitten Kitten. I think this may be my go to look for the summer you will definitely see me wearing this to death.

This review/shoot is going to play havoc on my wallet as I need to collect every possible print and fabric option in both dresses. I just searched on the website and found so many other fabrics so I'm set for the next three months!!

Many Thanks to the brilliant Liz from L12 Photography for capturing these amazing items and working with me on all things pinup and spooky this month.

Danger on the Dead Sea

For this spooky season Dangerfield has given us some of the cutest and most lusted after prints and styles. Bringing back the beloved label Black Friday and releasing some amazing Halloween and horror themed prints in both the Dangerfield main range and Revival.

Being mad about all things creepy I wanted to snap up and shoot everything but for this I focused on my top 3 items for Halloween.

One of my favourite musical/horror/comedies has to be Little Shop of Horrors and when I saw the samples for this season I was instantly in love with the Deliciously Fly Dress. Why looks like an adorable spring floral print is actually covered adorable little venus fly traps!! My blind blew when I saw this print and I knew that moment or day it was released would be the day it was in my hot little hands.

This super lightweight (you'll wear this all the way through summer and even the cooler months with tights and layers) swing dress with a fitted bust, sweetheart neckline and a fully lined skirt. This style is a little shorter than my other Dangerfield frocks but I think due to the warmer season it's time to show a little more of my pins.

I'm wearing each dress in my usual size 18 at DF and the fit is spot on. Fitted in all the right places and super flowy around my hips. This style bust as first can feel a little tight on your bust it gives for the moment you slip into it and really molds to your shape.

For this review/shoot I actually wanted to show you how versatile the cardigans available in store are so I chose to pair both looks with the Do Us Part cardigan in pale pink. Never did I think I'd rock pink but this past year I've really started to love the soft pale shades and this cardigan currently rocks my socks off.

Featuring Frankenstein on one lapel and a scroll with the worlds 'Do Us Part' which is perfect for any universal monsters horror lover. I'm wearing the cardigan in a size 16 and I find that size fits me perfectly in all knitwear.

When you have an amazing Venus Flytrap dress you need the best accessories to match and after a little searching I found the beautiful creations of Fancy Fruits on Etsy. Her tiki and retro styled Audrey II hair accessories are out of this world and the fine details on each piece make my little black horror loving heart sing.

I opted for mainly green style flower paired with the iconic Audrey II and with my hair and this out fit it's the perfect match. That much so I'll be using it in another photo shoot this weekend with the same theme. I'm crazy for it!! The amount of effort and handmade brilliance that went into this piece just blows me away and I can't help but put even more of her pieces on my lust list. I'll go into more detail on my next post but you can get flowers, sculptures, head bands, Disney mouse ears and more!

Dead Sea Dress - $88.00

My next look was a must have as I'm so very in love with the shape and fit of the Dead Sea Dress. On my first Dangerfield review I showed you guys the Fruit Bat Dress and since then I've been living in it. I have had some issues with tightness on the sleeve so for this style as I know I'm going to be wearing it all summer I just removed the sleeves. Another fabric version of this dress has just hit the store for summer and I'll be going sleeveless for that style as well.

In an 18 this is comfortable, super roomy around the waist and bust and really flatters and slims your middle section. Even on my bad days this style makes me feel damn good about myself.

Now lets focus on that print. I've always loved sea horses but now I'm smitten with the seahorse skeleton visual. It's such a strong shape and looks amazing on the black cotton and a nice change from the generic spooky skeleton. I will always by this dress as the fit is perfection and I need one a day for work.

Again I've paired the Do Us Part cardigan with this frock and I really love it when matched with black and white, it just pops that little bit more. You can also snap up a men's shirt in this print so you and your love can match.

There are so many options available in store and online so don't miss out on this seasons spooky goodies.
