Trick or Treat

Halloween is not limited to the 31st of October in my home. I've always filled my apartment with all things kooky and spooky but when September rolls around all my favourite brands start releasing their Halloween prints and collections and I can't control myself or my wallet.

For this post I'm focusing on one of my all time favourite brands Sourpuss, for cute, casual and unique pieces to wear all year round because in my world every day is Halloween. Now this post is a long one as Sourpuss Clothing are the best in the biz and have so many pieces be it clothing or accessories so get ready to have an overload of information!

Each and every piece in this review is a size XXL and I find that this specific size really fits my shape and bust perfectly. I've also included some absolutely magical props from Costumes.com.au who are my new go to prop and costume shops in Australia!

One of my stand out favourite prints this spooky season is Over The Moon which features retro cats, bats and moons. The sweetheart swing style is super flattering as it has a ruffled neckline, smocked back and a nipped in waist - complete with matching belt. The smocking makes this fabric really fit perfectly to your curves and the full skirt equals everything out to create that perfect hour glass shape.

The pockets and hem also features these supersweet ruffle details and I love how well the boned bodice hugs fits my chest and waist.

This style comes with removable and adjustable straps, so you can get that perfect fit. I'm wearing it without any of the additional straps as I've pair this style with a cardigan.

I just can't get enough of this bright orange and black print and can't wait to wear it all year round.
Prop wise this print screamed balloons to me so I've paired it with the light up jack'o'lanten balloons.

SOURPUSS STUDDED MOTO VEST BLACK  - $80.00

It can't be Halloween without multiple retro kitty prints! I'm an absolute sucker for a Sourpuss skater dress and this amazing print features the sweetest little black kitten and bright orange pumpkins. Made from that tried, tested and adored super stretchy fabric that hugs your curves and is perfect for all year round wear. I'm on my 5th SP skater dress, and I think I'll be addicted to them for life.

After the success of my last Sourpuss vest, the next step obviously had to be the moto vest! With the exact same fit as their moto jackets this piece is my new go to layering accessory. Now this piece is bare when it arrives, so you can customize the piece to be 100% you. It's all in the details.

Inspired by all of the SP brooches and iron on patches I've gone for a full spooky halloween theme with this brilliant vest. Focusing on the new patches and pins that Sourpuss just recently got in stock. Traditional Halloween colours, creeps, creatures and more, all mixed in with my addiction - enamel pins.

I've added a mixture of A Clockwork Orange, horror, and creepy crawlies adorn my vest with a few of my old faves mix in. Now the only thing I have left to complete this vest is the addition of a back-patch - but what?

SOURPUSS DIG YA LATER RAGLAN SKATER DRESS  - $60.00

My clothing dreams have come true! As a full-blown raglan addict, I yelled the house down the moment I saw this little skater dress. I live in baseball/raglan style tops and now I finally own one in dress form.

Not only is it the most perfect shape and fit but the morbid little joke paired with a retro hearse has my heart a flutter. I have hearse printed dresses, bags and lots of accessories so I'm way to excited to add this into my weekly rotation of looks.

The shorter sleeve did worry me but it hits at the perfect point so it offers coverage and slims any bulk. A little birdie also told me a 3/4 sleeve will be coming out for the cooler months so I'm going to go gaga for that!

SOURPUSS LUNA BATS KEYHOLE SKATER DRESS - $60

Created from one of the softness fabrics I've ever had the pleasure of wearing the Luna Bats keyhole skater is a dream to wear. Clearly I'm a fan of skater dresses and I'm loving the variety of prints and sleeve lengths SP have available. The bat covered sleeves are super log and silk soft.

The key hole element shows a little peek of cleavage and helps the bust sit perfectly. The perfect spooky printed causal look for work or out with friends and I can't wait to style this with boots, lots of bold tights and more.

Now let's chat about this amazing wreath. I've always had a love for Halloween themed wreaths but this year I wanted to get something perfect for my morbid taste level. This boney fella is the perfect adornment for our front door and as you can see the best frame for portraits.

Such an amazing price for something so much bigger that I honestly expected!

But this piece is not limited for one use and can be the perfect addition any spooky themed party or if your'e a lover of all things skeleton related an amazing piece for your living room.

Now it's time for a sleeveless skater. As a huge fan of Silence of the Lambs I'm forever collecting all things Death Moth related as it's such an iconic visual. Sourpuss have created both a skater and a cardigan with this black and white Death Moth print and I'm smitten.

So simple to style, effortless to wear and the perfect little summer dress! I've pair this style with my purple Yemak sweater and love how well the print teams up with a bright pop of colour. What I love most about all of these pieces is how versatile they are for all year round wear. Wear them with flats in the summer or layer with tights, cardigans and boots in the winter.

What's this another prop? Things are getting a little dark and spooky and lets face it rather silly! I just had to include the light up Larva Head prop in this shoot. How can you not right? Those red glowing eyes, spooky spiders and that larva pod. Just imagine the critter that caught this fella? Too late now I've run off with it!

SOURPUSS SPIDERWEB LYDIA DRESS BLACK - $68.00

Now to end this amazing creepy forest collection of images we have the Lydia dress. I've been eyeing off the Lydia in all of the various colour variants for a while now but I was never sure if it would work with my body shape. But as you can see the result once I wiggle my way into this piece is a big YES it works!!

This dress screams summer gothic chic with it's flowing layers of soft fabric, 40's inspired sleeve and contrasting buttons, waist band and spider web collar. The bold white accents make this piece pop and I love the softness and stretch the fabric offers, giving me the ability to button up or down without too much stress.

Now you might need a friend to help you get into this dress as it has a side zip which helps create that cinched in waist. This piece is AMAZING, and I've now added the red and black stripe and pink to my lust list. Now let's see if any more prints or colour ways will be released in the futures.

Now it can't be a full spooky themed shoot without a set of amazing custom nails and these stunning Trick or Treat claws were created by Candi Glam Nails! The perfect mixture of retro Halloween with horror!

Due to my work I can't get away with my most loved super long claws but with creators like Candi Glam in the market I can get stunning custom made pieces that pair perfectly with all of my themed shoots and can be worn as often as I like! With more options to chop and change your styles and themes I love this so much more than just having acrylics.

Each set is sent with a file, buffer, swab (to clean the base of your nail) slick on taps and all the important instructions. I also got my paws on their amazing cuticle oil, and I'm absolutely in LOVE! The smell of must never leaves my hands and I'm forever loving that scent.

In total I ordered 3 amazing and equally unique sets of Halloween themed nails from Candi Glam Nails so be sure to check back for my images and on my Instagram for videos! You never know you might find an in theme spooky woodlands video on there as well.

A little lace and a lotta spook!

Each year Hell Bunny gives me two huge reasons to celebrate. The first and by far my favourite theme has to be their spooky Halloween releases. Full of plus velvet fabrics, stunning prints and amazing details.

This Halloween season I've picked a few stunning pieces that capture my daily and creepy style perfectly so settle in and prepare to get stylish and spooky.

Ricci Dress - $96.00

Yes I own way too many Wednesday Adams inspired dresses but I can't help it. They fit my shape perfectly and really appeal to me with those fine details.

The Ricci Dress, appropriately named after Christina Ricci herself is my latest obsession. A high necked skater style stretchy cotton dress with delicate lace detailing on the collar and cuffs. A velvet bow and charm details complete the lace collar which like the cuffs is completely detachable. Yes you hear that right this dress is a 2 for 1 purchase. You get a full spooky look with the collar/cuff combo and be simply removing each piece (secured by bottons) you have an amazing fitting black skater dress.

I'm wearing this style in a 2XL and the fit's actually really roomy. I have heaps of room in the upper arm and should region so I think I might also purchase an XL for a more firm fit around that section and on the bust. The 2XL has a little too much bulk for me in the top section so I'm keen to size down.

The skirt is a really flattering length and whenever I wear this I get heaps of complements. It's also a great Transeasonal piece as you can layer this in winter or pair it with cute mary janes as the weather warms up.

Next we have the Graveyard Mini! A style  I'm very use to from Hell Bunny - a super short sleeved mini dress with bow tie and collar detailing. While I'm not a fan of the shorter sleeve I actually ordered this style to pair with black velvet ballet cardigans in my collection.

This style skims the hips, has heaps of room due to the stretch fabric and really does look great on a busty girl. I'm wearing the 2XL and the fit is spot on for me but I would like to see this style in a midi with a 3/4 length sleeve. As a girl with chunky upper arms I'm never a fan of a small cap sleeve but when paired with cardigans this is adorable!

What makes this dress pop is the graveyard detailing on the collar. Those little embroidered elements make this dress a show stopper.

You also might have noticed my brilliant claws in each of these images. My absolute favourite creator Nightmare Nails made some serial killer magic in nail form for me. Featuring all of the iconic and creepy serial killers of the 20th century - a perfect accessory if you are a true crime buff like myself.

Sabrina Dress - £47.99
Demonia Cramps-06 Platforms - $132.95
Old Moto Crop

Roses and spiderwebs are such a popular print and the Sabrina captures this retro repo trend with a spooky vibe perfectly. A full skirted (with pockets) sweetheart neckline dress that's make for an hourglass shape.

My shape however it's not working for. I'm wearing the 2XL and I can't get it zipped above my waist. I'm no where near a 3XL in any Hell Bunny garments but I'm sure I'd need to size up to one in order to be able to wear this style. So if you are contemplating this dress be sure to go one size up when you order.

This could also bee a miss labeled garment so I'll need to double check the flat lay measurements on this dress with the size chart or other sizes.

Vamp Jumper - £35.99

Lastly we have one super cute and creepy jumper. I've never been a fan of knitted jumpers as I thought they'd add a little too much bulk to my frame but I put paranoia aside and went with this amazing little black and white bat knit.

I'm so glad I gave this newer style a chance as I absolutely love it! It's the perfect crop shape to wear in or out of wiggles and swings, has a sleeve that hits just above the elbow and a super cute bat shaped motif.  This style has made me believe I can give into more and more high necklines and knits so I can't wait to add more to my collection over time.

Many thanks to Damien Bowerman for all of his help shooting these spooky looks with me!!
