Star Man Giveaway!

As a long time Bowie fan I was absolutely blown away when one of my favourite local designers come to me and asked if we could team up and create a dress paying homage to my favourite Star Man. Better yet we also got to work with an amazing accessory designer and create a bold and bright Bowie style pinup look that he himself would have been proud of.



So for this blog Sarsparilly, Tika's Treasures and I proudly bring the Starman Dress and accessories collection that one of my lucky readers can win! Yes you read that you can win all three David Bowie themed items from this shoot.



I've been shooting and featuring the stunning designs of Sarsparilly over the last few years more recently with the brilliant Harry Potter themed swing dress. There is always something magical about the fabric choices, fit and designs of this amazing Aussie based brand and for this collaboration I knew I had to go a super cute summer style swing to show the most out of this fabric and cut.



The Star Man Dress is perfection. Custom made for my measurements (I got a 2XL and the waist which is a 16 and the 3XL, an 18 at the bust) this style of bust line actually allows me to not wear a bra and the fit is spot on. I opted for the 18 bust to get the best hourglass style fit and the ability to get a custom fit made this frock fit like a second skin.



There are a whole lot of amazing Bowie Prints out there but there is something out of this world about this specific print as it features all of his iconic looks and those amazing poses. The world is not the same without his brilliant creativity but luckily we can hold onto his music and magic and wearing this makes me never forget his brilliance and impact on the world.



I've paired this stunning swing dress with my little faux leather bolero and a locally made turban. Why go plain and boring when you can be inspired by the man himself and take those little fashion risks. I just need a few more bright leather motos and some brilliant thigh high crushed velvet platform boots and I'm set for wearing this all the time. I also love this fabric that much I'd kill for a skirt version as the extra styling possibly would be amazing. From Bowie tees to more structures pinup blouses I'd love to create 100's of outfits.

My Favourite Murderers

For as long as I can remember I've had an obsession with serial killers - filling my home with true crime books and watching and reading as much as I can on this interesting theme. Some might think I'm a little nutty for having such interests but I find it so intriguing to learn how and why people are capable of such horrible things.



So to celebrate my obsession I've created a Killer Moto Jacket filled with both real and fictional killers. Covered with amazing pins from my favorite companies around the globe. With an amazing Asos Faux Leather jacket as my base I searched the net for specific names and styles plus added a little extra from my already huge collection of enamel pins. Butch Vision are the makers of the Gore Whore bright and rather brilliant pin (gotta love that devilish price tag) and my round pins are from Camera Viscera  an amazing selection of pins. I was nutty for R.L Stine and Stephen King when I was young and still adore them. I also added my beloved snake oil pin from Outrider as I love how it looks when mixed with these styles.

A few more Camera Viscera pin for the mix and one of the coolest pins I've ever purchased the amazingly vibrant Vincent Prince created by Creepy Co. using the artwork of Mitch O'Connell. This piece is amazing and I'm so happy I snapped up this colour way when it was on limited release. You can pick up the classic via their webstore now.

Then my girl Milly Pins has killed it with this Bates Motel sign! If you love a little horror and lots of Bates Motel awesomeness then check out her Etsy store asap.

Then finally we have the brilliant and iconic H.H. Holmes pin from the amazing fellas at The Sauced Boys. If you don't know who Holmes is I suggest you got straight to Google and look this man of pure evil up. A cruel, crazy mastermind and serial killer whose story will shock you to the core.

Rock Cats - Giveaway!



Last year I fell in love with a little kitty from Erstwilder who just happened to be the feline version of Bowie but never would I have imagined that this little kitty would start one of the coolest ranges to date from my favourite Australian accessory brands.

Ezibuy - Review and Giveaway! (CLOSED)

If you are Australian based you will know the brand Ezibuy very well and may have ordered from their awesome website. I actually stumbled acrossed their store a few years ago when I was dressing corporate for work and I fell hard for their button up shirts as they actually fit me!

Well fast forward to 2016 and I'm smitten all over again with their amazing skinny jeans and the merino blend crew neck tops!

Emerge Key Stretch Lean Jean - $20.99

I'm forever hunting for the best high waisted super skinny jeans for every day wear and my search has finally stopped now that I own the Lean Jean!! This is by far the most comfortable and flattering pair of jeans I've ever worn and I have tried each and every pair I can get my hands on and round toosh into. 

Made from super stretchy rayon/cotton/polyester/elastane they fit like a dream, stretch a little but hold their shape. They are a proper high waist which tops just above your belly button and this helps slim over the waist and flatter your curves. I'm wearing a size 16 and after snapping these photos I went straight back and ordered another pair in black and one in indigo - I want to live in them!! They are perfect for my height and  great for my waist to hip measurement. I've also purchased the Emerge Stretch Shaping Jean this past week and I'm loving them just as much as they have a secret slimming panel! These are both priced at $20.00 so I had to snap up one of every colour! 

 

Emerge Merino Blend Crew Neck - $39.99

I'm usually one to avoid high necklines but this season I'm loving a crew neck and I'm crazy for this Merino wool striped top from Emerge. With long sleeves, a contrasting neckline and curved hem it really flatters my figure without making me feel too wide as most striped tops do. The Merino blend is soft and perfect for winter. I've officially made this my favourite work outfit so I'll be needing to pick up the other colours available in red, black and charcoal. This style also looks great with swing and pencil skirts as well as high waisted shorts. I wear this crew neck in a size a XL and it's roomy but really comfortable and I don't think I'd want it any tighter.

DKNY Sunglasses - Review and Giveaway!!!! CLOSED!!!

If you follow me on all forms of social media, you might have discovered that I have an addiction to sunglasses. I have over 20 pairs (and only one head!) and constantly update my collection with a new style, colour or print. I usually share all of my sunglasses purchases on Instagram but the latest addition to my collection deserves a full review as it's my new stand out favourite!

With a grey lens and black frame this is my daily pair of shades. The design is so simple and flawless as it pairs wonderfully with everything in my wardrobe and with all hair and makeup choices.

A few months back I found out about a brilliant Australian based vintage inspired clothing brand named Sarsparilly.

Sarsparilly was founded in 2010 by designer Maria Murphy with a focus on cute and kitsch handmade, vintage and retro clothing.  Since then Sarsparilly has grown and changed into the store it is today, a collection of fun, feminine, vintage inspired, dresses, accessories and hair pieces.

This is one of the most adorable prints I've ever seen. Retro inspired mermaids, sail boats and a stunning water and starry sky adoring this fabric. This dress is 100% cotton and fully lined on both the bodice and the skirt. This is one of the most brilliantly crafted dress I've worn! Now you can wear this with or without a petticoat depending on how you like your skirts, I'm wearing this style without and it still has heaps of fullness.

It's that time of year when I get a little accessory crazy and shoot one of my favorite jewelry brands, Classic Hardware! With the warmer months approaching and necklines getting lower, I'm all about the statement necklace right now!

So jam-packed a whole heap of retro-inspired goodies, I headed over to shoot with the amazing Julz Photography at her home studio. We shot these amazing items very simply; focusing on the classic design and artistry.

Apples and flowers! More to match with ruby red lips. The retrolite range is fast becoming my favorite style as the colours pop so much on my skin. Now I've linked the Plumeria earrings in black as I've not found the red version online.

The Medals necklace is my stand out favorite in this whole set! The red and silver combination is so classic and really makes a statement. This style paired with low cut black tops and dresses - divine!

A must-have necklace for those with a passion for snapping, the rockware Camera is awesome! This style is a 2 Fer which means you can wear it long or wrap it around twice to make it shorter.

Then lastly we have the Puss 'N' Boots locket with a sweet portrait of the cat himself on the front. Then once you open the locket up you will find a little story hidden within.
