Great Scott!

This week I'm super excited to bring you one absoltueyl amazing retro swing skirt with the most funky, adorable and lets face it proudly nerdy print on earth. My girl at Sarsparilly has released the most amazing Back To The Future printed skirt and it's rocking my bobby socks off.

Outta Time Skirt - $189.00

A 50's reproduction gathered skirt covered in different kawaii type characters from the film! This is my first skirt from their collection and has now officially started a long term love affair.

I'm wearing a 2XL and the fit is perfect for my waist. The firm mid weight cotton has no stretch so be sure to order your correct waist size for that perfect fit. I'm wearing this style without a petticoat and I've noticed that I never seem to near any extra volume under and of my Sarsparilly dresses. The construction of the full skirt makes it's own shape and rocks with our without a petticoat. Each skirt comes with an invisible zipper and have hidden pockets as they knew how important those little features are.

Now lets talk about that print! I can't get over the absolute curtness of this fabric and the attention to detail in each and every character. I love this fabric so much I instantly make people look at the detail when I'm wearing it and show the little Doc's, Marty's etc. It's a cute spin on the visuals from the film where most companies focus on the car itself this fabric shows off the modern and retro costuming of the characters.

Styling this look I was unsure if I wanted to pay up to a femme cosplay version of Marty or just take inspiration from his styling. Since I look horrible in a red puffer vest I opted to pair the skirt with a stunning deep burgundy moto jacket in faux leather. This colour is rich and so yummy and the softness of the faux leather makes this a dream to wear.

I'm wearing a 3XL and it fits my bust and waist with ease and I don't have any issues with my upper arms which I find can be oddly tight in some lined jackets. This style is also available in black and as shown the burgundy and will be back in stock shortly.

Created by James and Co. which is a vegan apparel company, a maker of womens vegan outerwear in cruelty free fabrics. Creating jackets and coats that are beautifully tailored contemporary stylings of wardrobe classics.  I've also found the perfect deep red lipstick to pair with this lush faux leather moto.

For my footwear I really wanted a pair of heels that popped in the photo shoot as well as pairing perfectly with the navy and muted tones within the skirt. My new SABRINA-07 Red Glitter  heels from Shoeme.com were actually a last minute styling choice but I in LOVE with how well they work with the whole look.

The sparkle pairs perfectly with the print and even works with the moto! I've been wearing these a lot as they are super comfy and I think it's about time I snap up a black version so I don't wear the red to death. I reviewed these only a few weeks ago so click here for the full size info and more images.

I'm so smitten with the skirt and I can't wait to add even more to my collection over time. I only just noticed the Halloween items are up for preorder via the webstore and it's honestly hard to choose only one as they are all kitty themed! Here's a preview of what's to come.

You can order each via this link in either a skirt or dress form I'm torn between a skirt in either the Vampire Bat kitty or the costume creepy cuties! It's so hard to not get every single version!
Many Thanks to the amazing Brooke Orchard for taking these images and helping this full outfit shine.

The Perfect Skirt Search

Last month I put the call out for any advice on where to find the best skater style skirt. So many of my awesome followers jumped on board and gave me lots of links but the one brand that stood out the most was Blackmilk.

The BlackMilk skater skirt has always been for girls around the globe but if you are a little bigger in the booty like myself you might have noticed they are way too short for your shape.

Never fear as they have recently released a new version which is a little bit longer than the previous skater skirts. Offering extra coverage and the perfect length that hits just above your knees.  I personally found the new length absolutely amazing for my shape as with a big booty comes some curvy AF hips.

I'm wearing the XL and I find the fit of all of the BM items to be perfection on my body. The fabrics offer lots of stretchy and are super soft to the touch. As you can see in these images the skater style skims my hips and really flatters my curves in the best possible way. The lack of zips and amount of stretch means you can wear this size up to a size 20 if not higher. I'm a 18 and sometimes at 16 but this is so comfy on me.

I never thought I'd find the perfect skater skirt on my first try but this style has won! Bonus points for the addition of pockets!

For this review/shoot I wanted some creepy Halloween vibes so I've paired this with my amazing Vixen by Micheline Pitt Dracula top and a Hips and Curves Harness. I love the simple yet strong look of this complete outfit.  I also own the Classier Act Midi Skirt which is very much like this but hits under the knee. Both are perfect!

While this may not be officially a skirt I actually classify this style as my dream skirt as it offers a braces feel without all the chunky metal clasps.

Show Us Your tops is appropriately named because you can style this frock with any of your own bodysuits or tops. Made of a stunning stretch velvet that feels so dreamy and in the perfect midi length. I must admit I'm such a sucker for a midi skirt as they show just the right amount of leg and can be styled up or down with ease.

For all BM items I wear an XL and the fit on this specific style really hugs my curves. The waist and open bust bring the focus to your mid section and amplify the hour glass shape. The straps are also able to be worn slightly covering the bottom of your cup or even lower depending on which you fine more flattering. Both of these items have been in high rotation in my wardrobe as they are so versatile. I wear off the shoulder peasant blouses, bold stripes and many stunning tops with this dress every week. Now I hope a matte midi version is released in the future as I'll be needing it for summer.

I've paired this open bust skirt with one of my new favourite blouses the Gone Batty Flouncy top. This piece feature a neck bow, full-coverage length and OTT-flouncy cap sleeves. I tend to worry in a printed fabric that my bust might morph the image but this top pairs perfectly with a big bust! The bow tie is super sweet, the peekaboo neckline shows that little big of cleavage and the sleeves - the perfect length to hide any upper arm issues.

What I love most about this dark, creepy and vintage bat print is the biggest and most bold bat's placement right at the bust - it's brilliant! The fit of this top is so amazing you'll want it in 100 different prints and colours.

After testing these pieces I can officially say I'm sold and I've found my absolute favourite skater styles in both short and midi. I can't wait to get my hands on more and review them!

Many thanks to the AMAZING Brooke Orchard for working her magic with me on these looks.

Skeletons on Parade

Sourpuss have done it once again and blown my socks off! With amazing cardigans, super funky prints, the best accessories and my first ever battle jacket. Mixing all things spooky with some retro 3D realness and a bold green zebra print.

Skater dress are a curvy girls dream. They fit and flare out over your hips and really highlight all your best bits. The Sourpuss skaters are super stretchy, soft and just a joy to wear, so once you get one you'll be back ordering each and every print.

I'm wearing the vintage Halloween mask printed skater in a size 2XL and the fit is spot on. It stretches to fit your curves and really compliments the small of your waist.

The long sleeves and amazingly detailed print make this one of my all time favourite skaters and I need to snap up a spooky kitty print very soon. However if you are busty you can split the print a little on the bust. Because of the white back on the fabric any stretch can lighten that specific area. I wear a black bra beneath to help with that so order your true size so you don't run into this issue. If the bust section was lined it would fix this issue for the super busty girls out there.

Another amazing cropped SP cardigan to add to my collection! I feel in love with the retro X-ray glasses pin last year and wear it on my moto constantly. So when I noticed that they had embroided my favourite pin on a soft cotton cardigan I nearly lost my mind.

You can do no wrong with a Sourpuss cardigan. They are the perfect medium weight for all year round wear and look amazing when paired with pretty much anything. They fit true to size and have enough stretch so you can wear them buttoned up or left open. What I love about this X-Ray cardigan other than those embroided glasses has to be the bold red buttons. They add the perfect extra pop of colour and really stand out.

I'm wearing the 2XL and the fit is great due to the super stretchy fabric.

When you have an X-ray cardigan you have to snap up the same image printed all over a dress yes? This dress is so very out of my comfort zone and I will admit I wasn't sure I could really rock this until the moment I tried it on.
Made from an almost scuba fabric this skater style is figure flattering and really unique. The black mesh panel really pops and shoes just the right amount of skin. Pair this piece with the matching cardigan or wear it on it's own.

The 2XL is actually a little roomy in this style so I'd be keen to try an XL and see if the fit is better.

Stripes and skeletons - oh my!

The dancing skeletons is scoop dress is a summer favourite with the bold nautical stripe and flowing skeley skirt. No need for waist belts or accessories as this dress is a little stunner all on it's own. The fit on this dress is actually firm but really accommodating as two completely different fabrics combine to create this one look.

The top half is a stretchy soft cotton and the skirt a super lightweight polyester. This makes it perfect for hot Aussie summers. Again another great 2XL fit. I was worried that the stripe might add bulk to my frame but I think the scoop neck breaks that up.

This style is such a joy to wear and I'd love to see other colour stripes in later collections. I'd wear these all summer long in green or red stripes!

I've owned many cropped cardigans, jumpers and moto jackets but I've oddly enough never purchased a vest. I've always worried I'd look to bulky or broad but with the SP Essential vest all of those fears disappeared. This vest is very lightweight so it does not square up your torso and due to the copious amounts of stretch it hugs your curves.

As you can see this style hits me right at the waist and it really does create that perfect hour glass shape. I can't wait to add a back patch and lots of pins. The green zebra print takes me straight back to my Psychobilly days and I think I may need this in purple and leopard.

You can pair this piece with tees, tank, crops and scoop necked blouses. It also looks great with layered with skater or swing dresses in solid black or complimentary prints.

What do you pair your vest with? ALL THE PINS! Switchblades and kreepy mottos from Kustom Kreeps which is actually the male section of Sourpuss - I adore their raglans and pins as they are unisex.

Then a few pieces from the mainline - Classy and Trashy because lets face it that's me to a Tee and a cute little bat boon pin. It's clear now that I must order ever single pin and vest from Sourpuss and live in them. I'm such a sucker for a bright cheeky enamel pin.

Voooodoooo

Have you tried any of the plus sizes verses the top end of the standard selection at Voodoo Vixen yet? Neither had I and I've been wondering which is a better fit for my curves to months now. So with my favourite prints and styles in mind I've tested some amazing items in both the XXL and the 1XL. Each fit varies so knowing the fabric and the construction of each garment helps you get the perfect size.

Oh Dana! This amazing tropical cherry and pinapple print dress is a summer swing dream!! Featuring a soft tropical print of some seriously yummy looking summer snacks on a cream base.

The Dana dress has a wide v neckline which works perfectly for ample busts and the bow tie feature really makes the bustline pop. The darts and fabric can also accommodate both large and small chest sizes so no matter what your shape you'll look amazing.

Fitted at the waist with a full swing skirt and hidden pockets this frock has me wanting to jump on a plane and head to pool size bar over the pond. I'm wearing a 1XL and I actually find this dress roomy at the waist and a little at the bust.

I've been testing the 1XL in the curve section and the XXL in the standard section and I think I'm actually suited to the XXL fit wise. For this review I've actually tested both of these sizes in a variety of garments and the fit will be slightly different as the 1XL has a few more inches according to the size chart.

If you are looking for that perfect summer dress for festivals or just nights out the Veronica is a stunning little number full colour with a ruffle and the pom-pom trim. The bright primary colours of each pompom stand so boldly on the black fabric and the pleated bust fits the twins like a  dream.

The defined waist was the first thing I noticed fit wise about this garment as it has a sheering panel at the back so it hug our curves and create a super small waistline. The size zip is always a brilliant features as I hate having a bulk zip at the back.

For this style I'm wearing the XXL and the fit is amazing. That sheering panel is what makes this dress a perfect fit and I have never felt more amazing than when I'm wearing the Veronica. This style is obviously a customer favourite as genius's at Voodoo Vixen have released a red with black pompom version and for all you romper lovers you can get both colour ways in adorable playsuits! All three are on my lust list. Pairing this with a red bolero makes this dress perfect for Spring!

From tropical prints and pom poms to retro vegas prints! The Pippa Vegas is a black based flared skirt with a iconic retro Las Vegas images print. The perfect piece to add to your collection of separates for day or night wear as it's so comfortable and cute.

With a hidden zipper and side pockets you have enough room to hide your phone and all your goodies. There is nothing better than extra deep pockets as I tend to get grumpy with handbag and love being able to fit all my essentials in my outfit.

I'm wearing this style in a 1XL and It's actually too big. The waist is very loose and the extra stretch means I find it looser than I'd like it to be. So next time I'll be sure to size down to the XXL.

For this look I wanted to go for a slight pattern clash so I paired the Pippa skirt with the Rose Cardigan. This combo turned out to be perfect and I just love how the smaller print of roses really compliments the more bold Vegas images all over the skirt. I wear this cardigan in a XXL and the fit rocks my socks off. I've paired this cardigan with pretty much every dress or top in my wardrobe as it's so very versatile.

Voodoo Vixen always rock an amazing knit and I can't wait to get my hands on even more next season. I've been lusting after their sweaters for a while now so fingers crossed I can review them and help other busy girls.

Many thanks to the always brilliant and fun Liz Flemming for snapping these with me on a morning when we work too early but got to meet and see lots of puppers and cats so it worked out well!

The Midas Touch

It's beauty review time once again! I'm forever trying new and exciting products to keep my skin as youthful as possible and I'm super excited to be able to share my experiences and results with you.

Over the past 3 weeks I've been committed to a daily skin routine with the Midas Touch from Sassou.

With over 50 years experience in developing effective skincare formulations that merge traditional Japanese practices with cutting edge technological innovations, SASSOU JAPAN pioneers the use and application of natural plant extracts and premium 24k gold leaf. Establishing an international cult
following, including a global celebrity clientele, SASSOU JAPAN fights skin ageing on a cellular level and actively addresses concerns relating to dark spots, dull skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles, dehydration and environmental pollution. Nourishing and suitable for daily use, SASSOU JAPAN is a luxurious skincare solution for the mind, body and soul.

Now reading that you might be a little confused - gold and plant extracts? I myself never even contemplated the mixture of these elements in skincare, but anti products really do live up to the hype!

The daily routine is simple and such a pleasure to carry out with a focus helping make your skin it the best it can be.

I've focused on 4 products from the ideal for all skin types and complexions -  Goldwaver Collection which includes the Gold Beauty Cleansing Bar (100g), Gold Shimmering Essence Toner (50ml), Angel’s Dew Divine Moist (60ml), and Gold Eye Shiteru (15g).

Here is a little snippet of from the actually collection description.

Each piece contains Japanese-sourced 24K gold and is proven to revitalise dormant skin tissues and awaken weakened structures in the skin. Combining antioxidant-rich flower and algae extracts with the anti-inflammatory and hydrating benefits of honey, the Goldwaver collection adjusts the skin’ natural 28-day renewal cycle by balancing excess sebum production, detoxifying and refining pores, enhancing skin translucency and elasticity, restoring moisture, and creating a protective luminous barrier from environmental stressors.

I noticed the affects instantly. Imagine the most soft and silk smooth skin - that perfect base for applying makeup while feeling fresh and fantastic. That's the instant feeling you get when you use this collection.

The beauty bar arrives with a unique netted creation almost like a flat loofah. Merely wetting this and gliding it over the bar gives you the right amount of product and you can lather up the product into a super foam for 20 seconds. I can't get enough of foam face washes, so this is my idea way to clean day and night.

Then next step is to add a pump (I've found that one gives lots of product.) of the toner and evenly apply all over the face and neck. Then repeat this step with the Angel's Dew. These two items combined give your flawlessly smooth skin from the moment they absorbed - almost like the perfect primer.

The last step is to massage a moderate amount with finger tips in circles around the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes for the gel to be fully absorbed. Keep the tight-lid jar in the fridge to enhance soothing properties. The coolness smooths the soft skin around your eyes and feels like heaven.

Repeat this day and night and within a week you begin to see results. All those little things that bug you about your skin become less apparent. I annoy my husband constantly and make him touch my skin after I apply these products as the softness needs to be shared.

So if you are looking to invest in a truly amazing set of anti aging products that really work this collection is a must have. You can snap up the Goldwaver Collection and more pieces via their Australian website.

A Haunting we will go

It's the most wonderfully spooky time of year! Today Erstwilder have released their latest spooky Halloween themed range 'A Haunting We Will Go' designed my love Donna Mizzi! A collection full of creepy critters, iconic spooky imagery and much, much more. I'm super excited to be able to share my 3 favourites from this collection which was released to die hard fans locally in Melbourne over the weekend ant Erstwilder's Halloween Party!

With every kooky and spooky release, I've usually chosen animals or ghosts but the moment I laid eyes on this Bandaged Beauty I had to add her to my collection. I've always loved the iconic bandaged look the traditional Mummy costume but Donna has put a femme swing on this costume and created one curvy cutie!

Here she is, Miss Halloween! Oh what style, oh what grace. Oh what shame we can’t see her face. This Halloween beauty queen is super curvy and has given me all kinds of costume inspo for upcoming events! Just look at that hourglass shame - damn girl, who knew bandages could be so flattering?

My favourite little detail on this brooch has to be her ruby red heels. While lots of Halloween brooches are bold and bright, this beauty queen kills it in white and red.

Tombstones and Sandworms - oh my! Taking inspiration from the underworld, this headstone is absolutely rocking. Bringing back the dead for one night only and having a ball on All Hallows Eve.

Created with the perfect Halloween shade of purple on a textured reflective stone base and all wrapped up with a sandworm. I just love the way the worm coils around the headstone and those little red peepers.

What I love most about my choices from this collection and the previous years releases is the fact that you can group all the pieces onto your dress, blouse or coat. They work perfectly together, and you can create little horror stories with each outfit.

This is my first Werewolf brooch and definitely not my last. Talbot the Terror is an adorable little critter with the best brows and under bite in the biz.

Featuring bight pops of purple, green, red and yellow this piece really draws attention in the best kind of way. I just love the way they have used jagged edges to replicate hair as it gives Talbot a super cute vibe.  The green backing/base also makes him pop if you choose to pair him with solid black dresses or jackets like I've chosen to do.

I've paired these amazing pieces with the Ricci Dress from Hell Bunny (which I'll be fully reviewing over the next few weeks) and spider web contacts from Costume Box. Simple, creepy and so very me.

This is just a sampling of the full range and you can purchase every single piece right now via Erstwilder's Website - CLICK ME!
