LaSculpte

I'm a sucker for great foundation garments and I'm always on the look out for new styles and great new bodysuits and slips to add to my collection. This past week I've been testing and falling in love with LaSculpte a local shapewear and fitness brand from right here in Australia!

Who are L Sculpt you ask? Well, they have explained themselves perfectly here :

In a nutshell: LaSculpte is what dreams are made of. We’re the shapewear and fitness clothing line for the every woman and her sister friend. What does this mean? It means that LaSculpte, our products and our company, were created specifically to support the female body at work, leisure and play. We work to help women everywhere look and feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.

So after a weeks worth testing I can no agree wholeheartedly with this description! The two items I've been wearing over the last week (both to work and going out) have been the go-to items I always wear - a bodysuit and a slip dress.

I honestly live in bodysuits as they provide shaping and comfort all day and I love the smooth base they offer.

This is another brilliant bodysuit that's light enough for all seasons and has a great amount of firmness so it holds in your tummy and really smoothes out those lumps and bumps. Now no bodysuit on earth will make you 4 sizes smaller but suits like this really help create a smooth base to start with. I wear this in an size XL and the fit is perfection. With a size range of small to 2xl you can find the right fit with ease. I'm an Australian 16 and the XL is spot on in terms of fit and firmness.
What I love most about this style is the high back. I tend not to wear too many low back dresses and find some suits really don't give too much coverage around the bra band area. This bodysuit covers and smoothes this area perfectly and the underbust design means you can wear your own bra!

It's taken me a while to get on board with shaping slips as I've not found many that actually work or fit in the right way. But this plunging style covers all the areas on my checklist - bra, sides and back and actually goes over your shoulders like a real slip. Others tend to just stop and then you have roll downs of fabric which is both uncomfortable and yucky looking.
This slip is perfect for wearing under midi skirts and maxis as the firm yet breathable fabric (on both garments) is perfect for the stinking hot summer we Aussies have a head of us. While I usually like a underbust slip style for these kinds of garments this actually works with my bustline perfectly and like the bodysuit I'm wearing an XL.
I'm really excited about this label and it's my goal to try every piece so I can help both you guys and myself get the right fit and the best products!

The Lisa Dress

What's this? Another Pinup Girl Clothing review so soon? Well the Lisa Dress has finally returned to the Pinup Girl Website and I'm so excited to be sharing these images and this review with you guys.

From the moment this amazing Art Deco wiggle dress was previewed I was crushing hard. The chevron overlay with a high scoop neckline and a sweetheart almost deep v neckline peeking out beneath create a sophisticated yet sexy shape and flatters both small and large bustlines. The fabric is a soft knit but there is limited stretch and due to the wiggle shape I opted to go up to as size 2XL for a perfect fit. The XL measurements were perfect for me but I know that sometimes non stretch items and wiggles can be a little less forgiving on my figure and if you are right on the larger end of the measurements I highly suggest sizing up.

This dress was created to hug your curves and create bold and amazing shape.  My absolute favourite feature of this dress has to be the sleeves and the volume and shape they produce. Usually I'm slightly wary of sheer fabrics on my upper arms but this sleeve style and the pattern are really slimming and I feel absolutely amazing in this dress. With such a bold fabric and shape you won't need add much more to this look and I love wearing this with all black accessories and a little sparkle from a pair of earrings. While this style comes with a matching thin fabric belt I opted for my Deadly Dames faux leather buckle belt as I like a thicker more defined belt when wearing wiggle dresses.
With the sheerness at the bust also be mindful of what bra or foundation garments you choose place beneath as it might show through. I opted for a black bodysuit form of shapewear and a plunge Freya Deco.
The Lisa Dress is also available in a blouse and looks absolutely amazing with the Doris pants as I modeled this combo while shooting with Pinup Girl Clothing on my recent trip.
If there is one absolutely stunning little black dress you need this season the Lisa is it and everyone needs a little art deco styling in their life.

Oh Valerie

Zoe Vine has done it again with their amazing Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. Stunningly classic and sophisticated designs to help all you girls on the other side of the world looks pinup perfect and classy this chilly season.

With a rich colour palette and amazing tailoring you will find the dress of your dreams in the colour of your dreams with absolute ease. When the current look book was released I feel in love with the new colourways and the very classic and elegant necklines, draping and sleeves - oh, how I long for amazing detailed sleeves!!

So when I laid my eyes on the Valerie Dress I knew I had to wiggle my way into this teal wonder immediately. Designed to suit the perfect hourglass silhouette, this dress has a fitted bodice with gathering under the bust and a flared deep pleated skirt with pockets - Yes, there is pockets hidden in there!!!

Yet again I've fallen hard for a high neckline and I really love how this style sits with my bust. The classic boat neckline shape and bishop sleeves (just look at those wide cuff details!) really even out my upper body and create a classic and sophisticated look. The soft, stretch fabric has a form-flattering fit but it's also light and drapes beautifully. Plus the pleats will have you twirling for days!

I'm wearing this style in a 16UK and the fit is super stretchy yet firm and this specific style really suits me perfectly. If you are a little smaller than the measurements listed I will suggest sizing down and the fabric has heaps of stretch.

Now this style does not come with a belt but I wanted to accentuate my figure a little more to balance out the high neckline and I love how the black and teal pair together. I also paired this with my favourite Bordello Heels from Shoe Me Gorgeous. This style also comes in a deep red and this is next on my lust list as I'm a sucker for a red frock!

These and other styles are available via the online store and I would love to try them all! I have the Marilyn in black and the fit is absolutely amazing and forgiving if you have any tummy issues as the draping is designed to hug curves and hide any issues.

That New Voodoo

This season Voodoo Vixen has created absolute magic with stunning new dress styles, lots of separates and some amazing deco jumpsuits. With lush fabrics and prints, amazing tailoring and some of the most comfortable fabrics to date we are seriously spoilt for choice with this latest selection.

While a lot of these styles are limited to the standard size range there are a few stretchy garments that I can wear with ease. I recently tried two of my absolute favourites in this new range (the Zooey and Laura) but due to lack of stretch of the bust line the XL just didn't work on me. With non stretch at VV I tend to wear a 2XL or an XL depending on the cut of the garment. For all other items I wear an XL.

Dita Dress in Blue - £45.00

This year I've added so many high necklines to my wardrobe! As a busy girl I should not be afraid to show or not show my chest and it's great to know that styles like the Dita exist and look amazing on larger chests. The Dita Dress in blue is a super stretchy with a demi-flared skirt that perfectly skims past my hips and defines my curves. The high line features a button clasp and a classy keyhole chest cut out and the sleeves a slightly puffed shoulder and full-length sleeve. It's those little details that make this dress shine.

I'm wearing the Dita in and XL and the fit is superb as the fabric is stretchy yet super thick so it holds your in perfectly. While matching belts are really not my thing I really love it for this dress. This dress is a dream to wear and so very comfortable. The high neckline sits the right point on your neck so it does not give you that 'strangled' uncomfortable feeling and it's perfect for all you work or family Christmas parties.

While a blue as bright as this is usually not my colour I think it works perfectly with my hair and skin tone. I'm also lusting after the Burgundy version of the Dita I discovered via Unique Vintage's website. I need both in my collection!!

Willow Maxi Dress - £58.00

When the latest Voodoo Vixen look book was released I literally yelped at the sight of the Willow Maxi Dress. For the past year I've been completely obsessed with maxis and it's really hard to get a style that suits a pinup wardrobe. But Voodoo Vixen have come to the rescue with this stunning 40's inspired maxi dress in bold black floral print. Made from yet another stretchy fabric this time a little lighter in weight the Willow is the perfect 'Wrap' dress for an hour glass figure. It's my belief that every girl of every shape and size needs a maxi dress and this style will compliment so many different figures!

I'm wearing the Willow in a size XL and the fit is spot on. It wraps beautifully around my figure, hugs my curves and works with my bust! The length hit my just as the  top of my feet and can dressed up or down depending on which accessories you choose. While the fabric looks to be 'showing through' a little whiter in these images I promise you that is not the case. With studio lights and the white underside of the fabric itself it seems to photograph like this. But in reality the fabric is perfect both top and bottom. I'm loving the addition of a maxi in the Voodoo Vixen range and I can't wait to get my hands on more. There is an amazing long velvet style I'm crushing on right now!

These styles are working perfectly with the chill we still get during the Melbourne spring but they are perfectly suited to Autumn and Winter and look amazing when layered with coats. Now these are just a small selection of what is on offer from the current range and I can't wait to see more and more girls and bloggers in all of the new season selections. On a side note I'd really love it some of the structured blouses, jumpsuits and pants were added to the plus section so I could rock these 1940's styles every day!

Many Thanks to Damien Bowerman for snapping these shots and for forever making me think I'm a superhero when wearing the Dita!

Tea for Me

This month I need to get my arse back into gear and get back into living life to the fullest and not being so lazy. I've purchased new trainers, I've ordered heaps of new work out gear, and I'm planning my menus ahead weeks in advance.

Lately I've just not felt like my usual self and I know when that blah feeling pops up that it's back on the getting fit wagon for me and I'm excited.

One of the biggest issues I've had in the past few months is bloating. Now matter what I eat, I bloat and as the day goes on, I feel like I just expand more and more. I wake up first thing in the morning and feel great but by the evening I can feel like a bloated mess.

I've tried pills but nothing seems to help but recently I tried Flat Tummy Tea - a bloat begone tea and I've fallen in love with not only the flavour but the real results! The taste is absolutely divine! I'm a mad fan of peppermint tea and there are definitely notes of this with both the activate and cleanse teas. I'm a warm herbal tea or English tea drinker in the cooler months and an iced tea lover in the summer and luckily these can work both warm and cold!!

The process is simple and once you start drinking the tea, it honestly becomes second nature! How does it work well let me explain :

Step 1. Activate

Wake up, get up and kick ass all day long with a cup of Activate tea at breakfast.
It will help*:
  • Reduce your bloating
  • Support your metabolism
  • Help maintain a healthy immune system
  • Boost your energy
  • Step 2. Cleanse

Get a flat tummy while you sleep (oh yeah!) - drink every couple of nights before bed to help*:
  • Detoxify your system
  • Reduce your bloating
  • Decrease your water retention
  • Cleanse your digestive system
You don't have to do step 2 every night but every second or third will help you achieve less bloat. While it does not make my tummy go away - because that would be absolute magic - it really does help with bloating and how it can mentally and physically make us feel like crap at times.

It's also great for those 'Whoops' moments we all have of over indulgence. Over the weekend I may have consumed way too much pizza and next weekend I might slip up (I'm human) but I know that I can count on this tea to help get me back on track.

This isn't a weight loss tea, so don't be fooled by that idea as no real liquid will magically get your bad bits into the shape you like them, but if you suffer from bloating like me then this can really help you feel better and love your refection from the side once again.

Tiki Fetish

Very soon I'll be sharing a huge post about my time in the US shooting with one of my favourite brands on this planet - Pinup Girl Clothing! It's going to be a big one and it's a post not only based around the experience, but also coming to terms with my body shape, my flaws and all those things we tend to get hung up on. But until then I have a HUGE review blog for you of some of the most requested items to review from other large busted ladies.

I'm trying new and old favourites throughout this post and everything is amazing fit wise! So don't worry about the size listed on your tag, focus on the best fit for you.

Oh Vera! When I saw the release of the Vera dress I was absolutely mesmerized by the new style bustline, thick straps the shorter style skirt. After checking the size size chart I was absolutely sold on the XL but I was still a little concerned about my ample bust fitting into this style. On paper it sounds perfect but with some fabrics you just never know. I also wanted to give a few other styles the 'giganto boobie test' so I ordered this and the Zooey to see just how well a large chest can work with these presumably more bust friendly styles.

This week my XL arrived and given my closeness to the measurements I opted to go with no bra for this style as I find the more structured cup styles at pinup girl clothing give great support such as the vamp dress or top. The result - a perfect fit! The style zips up and holds my chest up and in with no issues what so ever. Although my bust is a little bigger than the cups themselves there is no real visual issue as the fabric hides any issues. My chest has grown that large that I tend to wear 2XL's now to get the right amount of room but for the Vera the XL is a perfect fit and so very flattering to my shape.

I paired this style with one of my favourite boleros from Inspired Insanity and the faux leather deadly dames buckle belt from the Downtown Dame Dress. The fetish style print has long been a favourite from me and I've featured 4 different garments throughout the years in this one print!

Now for something softer.

For many years I dreamed of owning a Zooey Dress but the cup scared me and until recently I've never been game to slip into this stunning style. But this year the Zooey bust has been redesigned to accommodate larger chests and I know it was finally time to get my hands on it finally.

Before I write anything let me just thank the design team at PUG for giving us boobtastic girls a little more fabric and coverage in an amazingly flattering dress. I'm wearing the Zooey in an XL and it's super roomy, has adjustible straps and enough room in each cup to hold me in without a bra. Yes that shape and height is the dress working it's magic!! I'm a GG and it's fitting me perfectly.

What I love most about this style is the waistband. It creates a tiny tiny waistline, draws attention to the smallest part of my waist and really emphasizes my curves. It's an optical illusion that does wonders for your figure and now I need this in every possible print for the rest of my life.

The mint and pink Tiki is actually a little darker outside of studio lights but I'm loving the pale shades and softness of the fabric. While most tiki style garments are bold and bright this gives off a softer vibe and suits so many different accessories and cardigans. I paired this with a longer sleeve bolero in pink (16)  and matching petticoat both from Inspired Insanity (size L/2XL) But you can use many different colours and even back to style this print with. The denim retro wedges work perfectly with this look and you could even modernize this dress by adding a cute cropped denim jacket.

Never did I think it was possible for me to pull off a very classic 60's neckline but because of the Harley Dress I can comfortably and happily wear this style! I was lucky enough to model this when I was in LA back in August and I instantly loved the fit and the very casual yet adorable design. I don't always have to have my chest on display and for times when I want to be covered up but still need to beat the summer heat the Harley is absolutely perfect.

Now I originally tired the 2XL and it was roomy at my waist so I tried the XL only to find that it was way too tight on my chest giving me that pancake boob look we all dread. So back I went to the 2XL and as I've been saying a lot these days I'll purchase to fit my chest then tailor it to fit me at the waist. But as I've found out recently the fit of this dress is meant to be a little roomy and relaxed, so I'm sticking with this as is.

It was fabrics like this that inspired me to add more Tiki to my collection this past season and I think my love for such prints will continue year after year. I also love how bold the blue and green combination is and how well it pops with my hair and skin tone.

I'm on my 3rd Renee dress now and I can't get enough of this style! From the adjustable straps and cross over back, to the little peekaboo midriff section the Renee is my go to frock for summer. It's breezy and super comfortable and with a new tiki print this dress is perfect for our upcoming heatwave. I've upgraded to the 2XL to accommodate my chest but because of this the midsection is a little loose but that's something easily fixed by a tailor. It just needs an inch or two taken in on either side and it will sit perfectly all day long. What happens currently? Well the middle section tends to droop so I've clipped it in these images until I get it taken in.

This dress is amazing and it seems to suit all shapes and sizes and all bust shapes. Best of all you won't suffer from that annoying halterneck dress pain when going braless as this dress is built to hold you up all day long without putting to much strain on your neck. Sadly this style is sold out online but lets hope that it's released in even more prints as I must collect them all!

Many thanks to Damien Bowerman for shooting these for me and I can't wait to catch up with him once he returns from his Euro trip!!

It's Magical!

When searching for the best of the best for my Halloween shoot I was contacted by my favourite local dressmaker, Sarsparilly about including her Harry Potter themed print in the shoot. Now this fabric was perfect for a 'dress up themed shoot' but I also wanted to not take the focus off such a unique item that was not particularly spooky - so the Headline Dress gets a feature post all of its own!

While most Harry Potter themed items are very obvious this amazing print takes pages from the 'Daily Prophet' and creates an amazing newspaper headline print of the coolest kind. It's a subtle yet brilliant way for any Potter lover to share their obsessions with the world while still flattering your hourglass shape. What excited me most, more than the HP theme, has to be the fact that I now own a dress with my dream man - Gary Oldman's face on it! Squeeeeeeeee!

Made of a lightweight cotton with very little stretch I'm wearing this dress in the size 2XL/16 and it's the perfect fit for both my waist and bust. I'm usually not able to get this kind of fit with a higher neckline as my chest is so large but this frock works perfectly. Many higher necklines in this fabric create a what I like to call a pancake type effect with the bust but this fits perfectly!

Now I'm wearing this style without a petticoat and the pleats create such fullness that you don't even need to and extra volume.

I styled my Headline Dress with my own Harry Potter wand that I picked up at Universal Studios and my trusty Sweet Sweater from Heart of Haute. We had too much fun shooting this outfit and I love the silly 'conducting' magic expressions and the most stone faced levitation ever known to mankind.

Serious magic making business obviously.

Because one has to be super serious and squint with only one eye when using a wand :P

This one makes me giggle so hard! I could not for the life of me pull this levitating look off without looking nutty but I love these non 'model' poses! Sarsparilly also have an adorable cartoon print in their collection which is so cute and both are a must have for any fans of the movies and books.

Many thanks to Liz at L12 Photography for playing in the woods with us and for creating these amazing images. I can't wait to visit her again soon and get even more creative!

Jurassic Christmas

I think it's clear to say that over the past two seasons I've fallen madly in love with each Dinosaur Range designed by my girl Donna Mizzi. There is something so adorable about these creatures when in reality they'd usually be terribly frightening. Today we welcome the arrival of two new ranges at Erstwilder HQ and I'm so excited to be able to share my top two favourite Dino friends with you guys and a little Christmas cheer.

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of shooting in studio with Damien Bowerman and I wanted to feature these little fellas with my stunning new Gia top from Pinup Girl Clothing. I didn't shoot my Christmas style brooch though as I have a very special Christmas styled shoot later this month so I had to go a little more DIY with this one.

The Lone Raptor - $34.95

A hot pink tiger striped raptor sneaking out of the wilderness - what's not to love? The lone Raptor is so very cute and pairs wonderfully with my forest green Gia top. What I love most about each Dino that Donna designed is the sweet comical and cartoon vibe each style has. This little fella is definitely out on the prowl looking for his pack.

Erstwilder knows each how to create a whole environment or story with one accessory and they have outdone themselves with the Jurassic Thunder brooch. They've created a tropical volcanic eruption compete with palm trees, rocks and cute little Brontosaurus.

This is by far my absolute favourite pin from this collection and I'll be wearing these like crazy! I've just purchased a dark green biker jacket and these will work perfectly.  They even look adorable paired together on emerald green lurex.

Next is the stunning new Christmas collection. Bringing back some recoloured old favourites and new winter inspired styles you can find the perfect brooch for this festive season. Having a huge love for candy canes it the Sprinkled With Love brooch was a must have. Last year I picked up the Deck the halls brooch but this year I wanted a sweet treat to pair with it and this candy cane works perfectly.

If candy is not your style then you can find a stunning selection via the Erstwilder webstore right now and selective stockists. I'm going to pick up the stunning snowflake shortly as I can't miss out our this beautiful design.
While we are being absolutely spoilt for choice with these brand new rangers there is an extra special treat in store for all the fans of Erstwilder! A new 'Get Cracking' bonbon brooch can be yours as a special gift!

Simply purchase any four designs on ERSTWILDER.COM, not including gift cards, gift vouchers, spinner stands or boxes, and the Erstwilder elves will pop one of these BONUS brooches into your order, along with the rest of your goodies.
