Oh Jenny

When you think of the perfect swing style skirt, what pops to mind? For me, it's the Jenny Skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing. This style is perfection and I've featured this so many times over the last year but I think my love has grown as more and more prints are released in this super flattering shape.

So I took my current favourites out for a spin with the amazing Damien Bowerman and snapped what has to hands down be one of my all time favourite outfits from Pinup Girl Clothing.

Now as soon as you mention the Jenny skirts these days, there can be a little bit of confusion when it comes to sizes. I will admit when ordering these two styles I asked for some extra advice from Customer Service and double checked the size chart.

Currently my waist is 34 inches and I actually had to purchase two different sizes in this style! Now over the years I've worn everything from and Large to and 2XL but the reason for the variety of sizes is usually due to the fabric and how much it stretches. But for these I strongly suggest looking at the size chart to find the right fit.

Doris Top in Black - Sold Out

From the moment I laid eyes on this amazing Stephanie Buscema print I was in love and while I wanted the Jenny Dress in the Music Border print I opted to go for the skirt option as it's much more versatile. Then just as I dreamed this print is simply stunning in person!

While I'd usually opt for a XL I actually sized up in this style to a 2XL as the waist measurement on the XL only went up to 31 inches. The 2XL fits a waist of 33-34 inches and this is perfect with or without a corset (I'm wearing my orchard corset long line underbust in these images) It fits comfortably with a little room to move and due to the very limited stretch I'm glad I went up as size as an XL would never have zipped up!

What I love most about this skirt is the border style print and how gracefully it falls without a petticoat. The colours featured also offer you no fuss styling options, as you can pair this Jenny with every colour featured as well as black as I have with my Doris Top. The Doris top has currently sold out and I'm not sure if it will return but fingers crossed it will, as it's the best for a large chest! Mine got a whole lot larger over the last few years and yet Doris tops still rock with my curves!

A vintage floral print mixed in with spider webs? Shut up and take my money!!!!! I'm smitten with this mixture of vintage florals on a navy base and that extra addition of a spooky theme with the bright white webs.

For this Jenny I actually ordered my usual size of an XL as the size chart listed the maximum waist as 34 inches. This is a great fit but a little firmer than the other Jenny shown above as it seems to possibly have an inch less give. Between the two I'm more of a fan of the Musical Border style but this, when worn a few times, gives a little and will be super comfortable. Both of these stunning styles will be coming with me on my August trip to the US and I can't wait to style them with more blouses and summer tops!

So I advise you STRONGLY to be sure to check the size chart, double check your measurements and if you have any doubts pop on over to the Pinup Girl Lounge on Facebook or contact Customer Service directly through the website. With so many people around to give you advice you'll never have any fit issues again!

Now I also have the matching Turban but I will be saving that for some in studio shots with the amazing black Peasant Top! I wanted to shoot them together but I'm loving the idea of some bold studio portraits with both of these items. I'm thinking of something a little creative and magical maybe? Once again, many thanks to Damien Bowerman for these amazing images. He always seems to bring out the best in me.

Now I can't control my urge to review items so while sharing these tear sheets with you I'm also going to be reviewing all the brilliant items I'm wearing. I styled this entire shoot (you can read more about it in the article) and I adore each and every item show. So I've added extra images from the shoot which did not make it into print.

Hat - Vintage from Brooke's own personal collection
Shoes - Luichiny
Amobea Handbag in Red Glitter (shown in the editorial image) - $98.00

For this editorial I'm wearing all items in a size XL. For non stretch garments in the Pinup Girl Clothing range I always purchase this size. Now lets start with the cover outfit! My two favorite pieces in PUG separates range are the Lauren top and Jenny Skirt. I own 3 of each now and I won't be content until all colours and styles are mine.

Why am I such a fan of these items? They fit my curves and make my waist look tiny! It took years but I'm so very in love with the full style skirt and what it does for my body shape. The best part about both the skirt and the top is that they look good on all body shapes - big and small. While my bust looks great in the Lauren top it also looks amazing on a smaller bust. The Jenny skirt is also a great item of clothing to create curves where you might be missing them.

While usually I'm not a huge fan of cherries the almost 3D image on the border print skirt has converted me. Paired with the deep and lush red of the Lauren and cinched in with my deadly dames faux leather belt this outfit almost looks like a dress. It seems to be my goal when purchasing tops and skirts these to find items that compliment each other as an outfit and on their own. I also made my dream harlequin print dress with a Jenny and Lauren a few months back.

In the images featured in the magazine you will notice the Amobea Handbag in Red Glitter. This bag is a must have for every pinup girl's wardrobe and is a work of art. I have both the red and black glitter versions of this style and they are my go to handbag for every occasion.

I braved a swimsuit for this shoot! What a sight for the locals from Williamstown who saw me walking about the streets in this get up. The Marilyn swimsuit was one of the first items I ever modeled for Pinup Girl Clothing. I've owned the leopard print version for almost 6 or 7 years now and it is as perfect as the day it arrived. But I've longed for the green version for so long and I'm absolutely in love now that I've had the chance to wear it.

Super stretchy and form fitting, uplifting and supportive the Marilyn ticks all the boxes when it comes to the perfect swimsuit. Fully lined with power mesh to hug those curves, padded bust and adjustable straps this suit  fits line a dream. The gathered design  is phenomenal and hides any imperfections, a feature most swimsuits highlight. This suit also comes with optional diamante clips which adds that little bit of old Hollywood glam to your summer.

For an extra styling option with your Pinup Girl Clothing swimsuits I highly recommend wearing them as bodysuits under high waisted and swing skirts. I've been doing it for years so I can wear my beachwear all year round.

When I first saw a sneaky preview of the Renee dress I was dying to try it on as I'd only seen it on a size small model. The usual worries came to mind - how will I survive braless and what will my tummy look like popping through? But all my fears when out the window when I slipped into this fresh and stunning new design.

The Renee is amazing and I never thought I'd feel this comfortable without a bra on! Made from cotton satin this dress has a lined bodice, adjustable straps, full circle skirt and a faux tie bust. But adjusting the straps and placing your breasts in the right area you are fully supported and safe for wearing this dress all day. It makes your cleavage look amazing and the straps won't pull or hurt your neck line many other halters do with larger busts. I'm a 34GG and it fits me perfectly.

The peekaboo style cut out at the waist is almost an optical illusion drawing all the attention to the smallest part of your waist. This makes for a very flattering and super slimming dress. There is also an extra cute hidden feature which makes this dress a little more special - pockets!  So now I'm absolutely sold on the Renee and need to purchase the anchor print asap. I think it's safe to say that this is THE dress for summer!

Shoes - Luichiny

Then finally we have the Evelyn which is a style I've long lusted for but never purchased. A classic style garden party dress with a bold red rose print, full skirt and a peasant style bust. This style is usually photographed with it's matching bolero but for this shoot I wanted to show the dress on it's own and have be the main feature. The print is stunning and paired with my red hair and pale skin I think it's a perfect match. The peasant style bust/blouse works wonderfully for my chest and the waist line is form fitting, giving me that great hourglass shape. There is a little bit of stretch in this garment but not too much. So be sure to check the size chart for the closest match to your measurements.

With such a stunning and bold print I did not want to over accessorize so I chose a matching pair of red platform pumps and the amazing Wicker Baguette bag from the Pinup Couture line of handbags. I've been admiring wicker style purses for a while and this will be the first of many.

The Wicker Baguette Handbag offers enough space for everything you'll need and makes a bold statement. Pair it with beach outfits, spring and summer frocks or solid colours in the evening. The possibilities are endless and I know once you have one in your hands you'll need to collect the lavender, green and black versions.

I'm so happy I could share this full editorial and extras with you and I need to thanks Brooke Orchard, Pinup Girl Clothing, the team at Adore Pinup and my dear friend Liz for working on this with me. It was an absolute dream team and I love the results.

Print Perfection

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting some stunning corsets with brilliant Miles Away Photography just outside of Geelong. I packed my bags with a few extra outfits so I could take full advantage of the stunning garden location and show off my latest purchases from Pinup Girl Clothing!

This is my second Haunted Housewife dress and I love it even more that the first Black version I purchased. The shape is a little different from the Birdie Dress but has a similar shirt swing dress style. I adore the red rose print, white piping and white skull buttons featured on the cuffs. While this usually comes with a matching print think waist belt I chose to pair this with my Hot Rod Honey faux leather belt.

I'm wearing this style in the XL and there is limited stretch but a firm and great fit for my curves. I've also added a black petticoat for extra volume in the skirt. I swear this dress was made for my figure and I now need the red version in my collection. It's strange to think that a few years back I'd never wear such full skirts and only figure hugging wiggle dresses (I still adore them, don't worry) but now I'm making up for lost time and buying as many as I can.

I chose to keep my Orchard Corset on while shooting these swing style skirts and the shape it created is absolutely brilliant. Paired with a full skirt and a super funky faux leather belt it creates the most perfect hour glass shape.

Before the Lauren Top blew my mind, the Doris was the be-all and end-all of the boobtastic tops! I've owned both the red and black Doris tops for 4 years now and they are still in perfect condition. So when I finally ordered the burlesque printed Jenny skirt I knew that it would work perfectly with my black Doris top. I wear the this style in and XL and I fit it to be stretchy with a little give and room around my waist.

The Jenny skirt has fast become the skirt of my dreams. This gathered full style skirt is bold, bright and pairs beautifully with so many tops in my wardrobe. The Burlesque print is absolutely magical and was designed by the brilliant Micheline Pitt. Each pleat in the fabric shows a super curvy burlesque babe undressing and this print runs along the bottom of the entire skirt.

I'm wearing the Jenny Skirt in an XL and it's a perfect fit for me 33 inch waist. Now that I own two styles in this skirt will be purchasing every single style created as it works wonderfully on my figure. From the pleats to the waist band, length and fabric - it's perfect! This print is also available in dress but I'm not sure it would suit me as much as this outfit. I'd love to see a dress in this exact style one day *crosses fingers and toes*.

Doris Top in Dark Green  - $52.00
Jenny Skirt in Turquoise and Black Harlequin Print - $98.00

I got way too excited when I saw this emerald green beauty in the coming soon section of Pinup Girl Clothing. As a redhead I know how perfectly this shade of green goes with my deep red locks and I snapped it up the week it popped up on the site. It's a perfect fit in an XL and look great with high waisted skirts, pants and even un-tucked with jeans.

I paired this with the mesmerising harlequin printed Jenny Skirt. As I raved on about the brilliance of this skirt above I won't bore you again but I have to gush a little over the awesome print. I now own this turquoise, pink and black  print in both a Jenny Skirt and a Lauren Top and adore them ever so much. I love the pairing of this top with the bright emerald green even though non of the colours of this skirt match with that shade. The bright print and solid green really seem to work. I've also worn this skirt the Lauren skirt in the same fabric and it creates the most amazing looking and super bright dress!

Many thanks to the brilliant Nicholas Miles from Miles Away Photography for shooting these amazing styles with me and capturing all these brilliant fabrics! Can't wait to shoot with you again in the future.

PUG Lust List

Every month I put myself through torture and lust over all the items in the 'Coming Soon' section of Pinup Girl Clothing. Each season Micheline and Laura continue to outdo themselves with new colour options, prints and styles. So while I sit here and share my lust list I'm also listing one of my kidneys on eBay so I can purchase and wear all of these as soon as they are up for sale.

Featured in this post are my standout favourites from the section and new colour ways of my favorites.

I'm absolutely mad about swing style skirts these days and I adore an amazing print incorporated into the design. This super sexy burlesque print was designed by Micheline Pitt and as the pleats go around the skirt you see the dancer goes from dressed to barely anything! I love how the pleats have been worked into the illustration concept and the mixture of colours. The colours featured make it super easy to pair shoes, tops and accessories. All of which you'll find throughout the website.

Oh holy hell in hot pants!! When I saw the Renee Dress pop up on my Instagram feed I yelled like nutty puppy dog. I've been dreaming of a dress in this style for so long and have never found it. The bust line, the bow, and the peekaboo cut out are brilliant. I want to style this dress up and down, wear it with waist belts and without! So many styling options available.

Yes I love the Renee style that much I'd need it in Anchor print as well. I can't say no to any style anchor print and in this style it's a must have. I love the contrasting of the white bow on this style. It really makes the bust line pop a lot more. These dresses will be my summer staples.

Every Pinup Girl Clothing fan must own at least one Heidi Dress. This dress is one of the most comfortable and flattering styles available. I currently own 3 and will be adding more to my collection as they keep coming out. Being a redhead I adore any shades of green and I've been dying to try mint but until now have not liked many styles. This adorable pinup print also needs to come in other items I think, possibly in the Jenny skirt please ladies?

The Zoeey top is HOT! With a heat level almost parallel to the Vamp Top this boobtastic top will be an absolute hit. This style will be coming in core colours i.e red, black, white and pink and in cherry print. I love the fact that the red is a much deeper than usual. It makes the fabric more lush and is really stunning!

As you might have noticed recently I have a thing for Mermaids at the moment and this skirt is at the top of my list. An oceanic pinup scene frames the bottom of this swing style skirt and it is adorable! This will pair perfectly with the Zoeey top.

Basically I want every printed skirt available on the website - that's not too greedy is it?

Then finally my all time favourite top in a new colour option. The Doris is one of my most treasured wardrobe items and has been worn to death in both black and red. I've been crossing my fingers for the last few years hoping and wishing that some other darker shades would hit the web store and my wishes finally came true. Coming soon you will have the option of adding this dark green shade and a bright blue option to your wardrobe.

I'm so excited about these two new colours! If you have an hour glass shape and love to show off your chest, you need to add the Doris top to your collection.
