Birds of Paradise

As the new season stock rolls into Wheels and Dollbaby I finally got the chance to shoot and review my favourite items! With stunning new stock and some classic pieces I'm going to have to admit that this season I'm absolutely smitten with everything!

Wool Beret - $45.00

While the logical side of my brain would tell me you don't need another Wednesday Addams style dress in your collection, the peter pan collar fashion loving freak screamed at logic and I snapped up this dress as soon as it arrived!  Made from stretch matte ponti which both hugs your curves and holds you in tight, the Finishing School Dress is what dreams are made of.

With a tailored waist, my favourite 3/4 length sleeve. pleated skirt and scallop edge collar this is one of the most flattering style high neck dresses I've ever owned.

I'm wearing this style in a 16 and it's so comfortable yet the perfect tailoring and bow/collar combination make it a perfect dress for winter dinner dates. The adorable skinny belt and navy blue bow complete the vintage almost mod vibe of this frock and I honestly can't get enough of it! I'm just crazy for this dress and I can't wait to take it out tonight! Perfect for both work and play you can style this dress up or down with platform pump or a cute ballet flat. I can't wait to pair this with lace up black boots and stockings all winter long.

With such a bold and cute collar I wanted to make my accessories pop just as much as the dress does so I paired this dress with the latest addition to my glove collection.

I've recently found an amazing Sydney based company who specialize in leather gloves with a mixture of both vintage and modern styling. Have to Have are now my leather glove mecca and I've included some of their styles in this shoot and a bit editorial I have coming up with Adore Pinup Magazine; I can't wait to share that one with you guys! For this outfit I chose the red leather dotti gloves with white dots and they are pinup perfection. Also available in black and white which I also have they fit tight at first then mold to your hands as all good gloves should. I'm usually a small to medium in gloves so I went for the size 7 (medium) and they fit like a dream. If there is one accessory item I can highly advise you to invest in it has to be leather gloves. They last forever and look amazing all season long.

There is something about a scarlet red cardigan that makes me go weak at the knees and the new Birds of Paradise cardigan is absolutely gorgeous. It's a rich red viscose elastane knit that never looses it's shape but hugs all your curves. Featuring satin finish embroidery features exotic birds of paradise, luxurious feminine florals and elegant peacocks and a 1950s inspired sleeve with gathering and padding create an elegant long shoulder line.

What I love most about Wheels and Dollbaby cardigans have to be all the perfect little details. The velvet covered buttons in a bold contrasting black and the pleated edging on the sleeve and bottom of this cardigan.

I'm wearing this style and all items within this post in a size 16 and the fit is perfect! There is not button popping or gaping and it shoes just the right about of cleavage for my taste which is, let's face it, "Boobs visible always". I was worried at first about the pleated shoulder and though it might bulk my upper arms up too much but it's ended up being very flattering.

The birds of paradise embroidery is lush and so intricate featuring amazing bird and flowers. I really adore the colours used as I'd usually not think they would work on such a deep red but they really pop. I honestly can't get enough of this colour and love how it pairs with my pale skin and red hair.

Essential Logo Skirt

The dollbaby sweater - a classic I've worn in leopard print once before but never in black and I have no idea what took me so long!! This sweater is a classic 50's fit perfect for absolutely any skirt, high waist short or jean. Versatile, super stretchy and so easy to style and the small Dollbaby emblem and black bow make this sweater absolutely adorable.

I'm loving all of the high necked styles from Wheels and Dollbaby and how much that flatter my rather large bustline. The fit of this cardigan in a size 16 is perfect for my bust to waist ratio due to the stretch of the knitted fabric. It also nips in at the waist to emphasize your waist and this makes it an ideal cardigan for winter pinup outfits. While I did not keep this sweater it is the next thing on my lust list and I will be wearing this to death.

For an all black outfit I wanted a little pop of print with my accessories and while I stayed safe with my charcoal beret I had a little more fun with my gloves. The vento style is a stunning all black leather glove with cashmere lining and a bold leopard print cuff. While I'm usually not too crazy for leopard print I absolutely love these gloves. They really pop on an all black outfit and I can't wait to show you more images of them!

This whole outfit is making me want dress a retro french spy each and every day this winter.

Polka Dot Skirt - $198.00
Wool Beret - $45.00

More polka dots!! But this time in a colour you rarely see me in - blue. Although I love blue and navy I find it hard to pair with both shoes and other items of clothing but after seeing these images I see that black and this shade of blue are perfect together.

This button up shirt is made from a super stretchy yet silky soft fabric that feels amazing to wear. I'm wearing the 16 and like all the other Dollbaby button ups I own it actually buttons up over my chest with ease! Now this shirt naturally hits the top of my hips and is a great length for jeans and shorts but when paired it with a high waisted skirt I wanted to show off my waist like so the waist tie style worked best.

The blue and white polka dot fabric is so soft and I love the fitted cuff and long sleeve as it really flatters my arms. This style is also available in leopard print and I really hope that more prints or colour ways come out in this exact shirt. I'd love a super stretchy western or a vintage tattoo dollbaby print in this style.

I also think that the combination of black. navy and raspberry might just be my new favourite for winter so now I need to add a little more blue and white to my collection!

Now I've paired all of these tops included in this post with my Dollbaby Essential logo skirt which is now out of stock. For the closest curve hugging fit I can highly recommend the Deadly Nights Pencil Skirt as I wore these style in a 14 on the runway and it's amazing.

Last but not least I finally had a chance to shoot the absolutely stunning Birds of Paradise ballet dress. This sheer sleeved faux wrap dress is an absolute must have for any curvy Dollbaby. The wrap style top, pleated skirt and 3/4 sleeve make this one of the most flattering and easy to wear dresses in the collection. Available in both plain back and bird motif this dress suits all shapes and sizes and if you are busty it makes your chest look amazing!

Featuring the power mesh fabric I've come to know and love this dress is form fitting up top and super flowy from the waist down. There is also a black faux velvet tie at the back to add that extra waist definition. In a 16 this dress fits firmly but due to the stretch power mesh you have lots of freedom in the arms and a skirt that you just can't help but twirl. I love how this style is transeasonal as well being perfect for spring or paired with boots, stockings and a leather jacket in the winter.

All items featured in this post can be purchased in sizes 14 and 16 and if you need any extra help with measurements please feel free to comment below. Many thanks again to Liz from L2 Photography
