Hourglass

For the last few months I've been holding onto a huge secret and it's been oh so hard not to blurt it out due to excitement! When I was planning my trip to the US I received an email from one of my favourite labels - Trashy Diva, asking if I'd like to work with them on a photo shoot in New Orleans. While this was not a stop on my trip I quickly worked out the dates and booked it in! I was over the moon and bursting with excitement to work with a body loving, stunningly tailored and empowering clothing label. Now I'm no newbie when it comes to Trashy Diva's amazing fit and styling as I've shot some of their amazing styles for the blog in the past but being asked to model for them as their first plus size model well how could I not be over the moon with this news!

So just a few short weeks ago I jumped on a Delta flight to New Orleans and shot with one of the best crews in an absolutely remarkable town. Staying overnight in a stunning cottage I woke early and headed into the office to try on all the frocks and get started on one epic day of shooting. My looks were of the brand new print - Hourglass, how fitting that my body shape matches this name perfectly. I also had the chance to shoot a few more looks from other super secret ranges but I'll zip my lips tightly until those are released. Now people see many different things in this hourglass print be it bowties, a geometic print, the shape of a woman or what I found - Deadpool without a circle! Hourglass is a jazzy 50s 60s geometric print that is office ready and cocktail worthy.

I was lucky enough to model 3 stunning styles from this range that suit my curves perfectly. The first style that is now a part of my own collection is the Apple Tartlet Dress. Sister to the existing Apple Pie dress this is a flirty shorter version of this dress. So if you love to show off your pins this is the style for you! Featuring a ruffled bust with new skinny straps that detail four adjustable button holes on the back to achieve your desired fit. Fitted at the waist then flowing out to a short flirty skirt complete with pockets.

I'm wearing this style in a size 14 and the fit is absolutely perfect! The shape of the dress is flattering on my hourglass shape and the bust accommodates my large chest, it really does and this is a rare thing these days! The fabric is a lightweight cotton with a little stretch so it molds to your curves and is perfect to wear all day and night.

What I love most about this print is how stunningly it pairs with a variety of colours and how cute it can look with a variety of cardigans. You can mix and match separates as they work well with white, black and citron solids as seen above with the magenta cardigan. While I usually don't like wearing white I actually love this cropped cardigan and how it pops when paired with the print.

These cardigans are super soft and so very comfortable to wear and with the selection of colours and such a brilliant price you will find it hard to buy just one. I plan to order all of these over time as they work with absolutely everything.

These images were shot at the world famous CafĂ© De Monde! I love how I got to see the sites and taste all the delights while shooting and after these shots were taken I devoured those beignets. If you haven't had he pleasure of trying a beignet you must get yourself to New Orleans asap and visit this cafe. I ended up making a fool of myself with powered sugar here, there and everywhere but it was worth it as these are divine!

Now I'm no stranger to the Liz Dress  as I modeled another version of this many moons ago. I always loved and it flatters a large bust without covering up everything and the cap sleeve works well with my upper arms. Usually a cap sleeve can do me wrong but this style is flattering and almost slimming. The slim-fitting bodice shows of my small waist while the A-line skirt with gathered sides adds flow perfectly to just above my knees on this short style. I'm really loving the variety of both mid length and short styles currently in stock at Trashy Diva as they are perfect for girls of all shapes, sizes and heights.

I'm wearing this style in and 14 and like the Tartet dress before it's perfect! I felt like every 14 I wore on this shoot was designed for me and that's the sign of a perfect size chart and body loving clothing brand.

The Liz Dress comes with a matching hot pink belt which draws the print together perfectly and while I never wear thing belts I actually love this look. The small print works so much better with a thin style belt and I would love to see this dress with a citron green and white version of the bow belt. I cant' wait to add more Liz's to my collection as it's just a perfect frock.

The Virginia Shirtwaist features a classic 1960s silhouette with its curved neckline and sweet collar, darted back, and fitted bodice complete with a knife pleated, knee-length skirt. A button up front with the extra addition of snap buttons between each button offers a gap free closure - What a brilliant idea!!!! If you are busty like myself you will have an ongoing battle with shirt dresses and your bustline but the inclusion of the extra snap buttons fixes this issue completely!

This dress is divine and I'm regretting the fact that I did not take it home with me as it's so easy to wear and effortlessly chic. Perfect for work or play, dresses up or down it's the dress of my dreams and I must have it back on my body asap. Plus this style suits everyone and I loved reading Miss Victory Violet's review of this style as I thought of her the moment I tried it on.

I'm wearing this style in a size 16 to accommodate my chest and while it's perfect for my bust it's a little roomy around my waist but that's becoming normal for me. I tend to size up in button ups for my bustline and with the extra addition of the waist belt the waist room is fixed instantly.

It was so amazing to work with the brilliant team at Trashy Diva and although briefly see the sites of New Orleans. I'm planning my next big trip and I'll be sure to head right back and spend more time in Louisiana and hopefully have the chance to shoot with them again! I can't wait to see what the future holds with Curves To Kill and Trashy Diva and I'm even more excited to share the new set of images we shot, but for now I have to keep quiet.

Many thanks to my amazing Photographers on the day Brittney and Sandy. Plus an extra big hug and love to Erin for sorting out pretty much everything and for awesome chats, driving me about a new town and for looking after me so well.

  1. Love these on you! As a tall busty girl, do you find that the waist seam on the Shirtwaist Dress falls at/near your natural waist, or is it pulled up toward your bust? It's hit or miss for me with Trashy Diva for that reason. Thanks!
