Seasons Dreaming

As one season starts my thoughts instantly turn to the next. I plan so far ahead sometimes that I hunt through stores online and dream about my styling for the next 4 months or longer!

While still looking at coast and winter warmers I'm lusting after pale shades, perfect skirts and lots more items. My usual spring styling is mixing my winter wardrobe and with great prints, flowing dresses and still keeping the warmth aspect because in Melbourne we never know what mother nature will spring on us. From jackets to knits these are the seasons for styling your outerwear just as much as your every day outfits.

So here is my first (I have many over winter) Spring Lust List. I know I'm a little early as we are five days into winter but I can't stop planning! Currently I'm looking for items to suit that cross over point between the two seasons.
Biker Jacket - $89.99

My every day jacket and most loved is my crop Moto pleather jacket and I adore it. For a more casual and less punk option I've found this fabric version that will be perfect for day or night. I love pairing moto jackets with high waisted skinny jeans and wiggle dresses. This style also brings new life to feminine spring dresses.

Time to try something new colour wise for spring I think. A super stretchy knit pencil skirt is perfect for the cooler end of the spring months and so simple to style. Pair it with stockings and boots when cold and as the weather warms up have some fun with shirts and knits in plain and printed fabrics. For a skirt like this I always wear a thick waist belt and my tops tucked in. The perfect style for curves.

Even when I dream of spring I still lust after trench coats! I'm looking to add a trench coat of every print and colour to my collection and I'm wanting to try this pale pink shade. This year I've become really fond of pale pink and baby blue so this jacket would fit right into my current colour confidence. The soft shade also pairs beautifully with the spring floral's much like the Biker jacket shown above.

Another pencil skirt for my collection! I adore the grey and black mixture in this high wasited pencil ponte skirt. The black dot print on the grey fabric would look brilliant with pale shades or pink, peach, blue and would also looks fantastic with deep reds and classic black. A brilliant style for work or play as this can be styled in so many different ways. All items in this post are available in a size range of 14-26 so whatever your shape you can buy all these amazing garments.

So there is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my Spring lust list. -+-What are you dreaming about for Spring?

Skirted

Have you discovered Harlow yet? They are an Australian based plus size retailer who are dressing curvy girls all over the world. I featured their amazing Scuba skirt in my last Sourpuss post and now I want to share with you, my readers, a selection of their rocking pencil skirts!

Harlow specialize in size 14 to 24 and make a large variety of styles for the modern curvy woman. Being that my taste is more retro than modern (then mixed in with a little punk rock on my casual days) I thought pencil skirts would be the perfect items to feature and review.

Now I'm wearing all of these skirts in a size Small which works out to be a plus size 16. I tend not to be able to fit into plus sizes because of the waist measurements, which seems to be the issue with most of these styles. The 16 has a waist measurement of 36 inches as listed on the Harlow size chart and I currently have a waist measurement of 33 inches (refer to my stats at the top of the page for specific measurements).

I found that some of the styles differed in size and fit and, due to the elastic waist, can fit both my size waist (might need a little tailoring on most) and even up to a size or two larger than me. That is in no way a design issue - I just seem to have this issue with most plus sizes. If they were in a smaller size, like a 14, I think they would all be perfect!

Snake Charmer Skirt - $69.95 (SOLD OUT)

This was the tightest fit of all the skirts and my stand-out favourite. The faint and funky snake skin print on black is fantastic.

The perfect go-to skirt for any occasion; be it dressing up or dressing down, paired with heels for the evening or flats for a more casual look. As you can see, this skirt is much looser than the previous one. I found that it was more loose on the waist and high hip than the lower half of the skirt.

The same style as the black skirt above and a very loose fit. I adore this colour so much but I will need to get this taken in a whole size smaller. In this shot and the one for the black skirt, I actually needed to hold both in at the back. But these are simple issues that a tailor can fix and most of the time I have to get items altered.

These pencil skirts are PERFECT for work and will be worn all year round. Paired with shirts, tees, cardigans and funky blazers these skirts are a great addition to your work wardrobe and can take you from day to night.
