Knitwear Needs

Melbourne is teasing us right now with misty, cold Autumn days and I'm absolutely loving it! As winter approaches I've stocked up on my knitwear essentials to help keep my warm and cozy over the next few months.

So yesterday we jumped into the car with a whole lotta amazing winter warmers and headed to Mount Macedon to get lost in the bushland. Luckily the mountain was covered buy cloud so we got the perfect backdrop for knitwear! All items of knitwear in this post as well as the berets are available now on PrettyLittleThing and remember they have Afterpay so you can stock up and not break the bank.

This season I really wanted to take a few risks and really push myself out of more pinup/retro comfort zone. So for this order I wanted to try higher necklines and crop styles plus one thing I've been lusting after for a long time - the epic shaggy cardigan.

Black Felt Beret -  $18.00

My first piece and what might be worn to death this winter is the cropped high neck sweater. When I saw this piece online, I feel in love with the super wide sleeves, length and shade of forest green. Being a crop, I was not too sure if I could rock it but as soon as I tried this style on I feel hard!

A soft and cozy light weight knit that pairs perfectly with high waisted skaters, swings, jeans or wiggles and can be thrown over your favourite casual dress for an extra warm layer. I'm wearing this jumper in a size large, and the fit is perfect. My bra is fully covered and the end of the crop hits just below my waist so it's not going to show too much skin in the winter.

This is my first proper relaxed high neck jumper in 10 years and I'm surprised with just how much I love this piece. Usually being very busty and wearing a high neck like this can just emphasized your large chest but in a crop it really flatters my shape. Plus the epically wide sleeves even out the shape. Available in sizes S, M and L and in red, pink and cream.

I've styled this with a simple skater skirt and a wool black beret form PLT.

I know I'd wear this multiple times as week styled as seen online but I also wanted to pair it with a wiggle dress with a super deep neckline and a cheeky lace bra. The results speak for themselves.

This amazing cardigan/coat is full of shaggy chunky knitted loops and really pairs perfectly with the structure of my wiggle dress.

I'm wearing the size Large, and it's PERFECTION! Room to layer and move while keeping you super warm and comfy. I'm really excited to style this throughout winter and pair it with jeans and thigh high boots. I find bulky pieces like this work better if you wear form fitting garments beneath.

You can also pick up more colours in shorter versions and I need yellow in my world ASAP! Available in sizes S, M and L.

Revival Green Leather Gloves  - ClearIT

Now for a more traditional jumper style but in a really interesting fabric and of course it's cropped! It seems with knitwear I like to size down, and I find the really oversized look just adds too much bulk to my frame but with crops I can really emphasize my curves and embrace my shape.

The Black Eyelash Batwing jumper is super soft (imagine kitten fur level of softness.) and very lightweight. The perfect piece for layering in basic black. This style is a size large and does hit below my bra line so everything is covered.

While I've paired this with a plain black skater skirt, I'm also inspired to pop this over printed skaters or even some darker summer casual dresses to show off the crop but still keep warm. So many looks and ideas to try!

Red Felt Beret - $18.00
My last piece of knitwear is the Oversized striped dress which on me is just a jumper. I'm never sure about jumper dresses as I have a rather big toosh that shortens everything. This piece is super short and I definitely can't wear it as a dress sadly.

While I don't have a dress I  now I have a brilliant oversized striped knit to add to my collection.

Unlike the other styles I actually ordered this from the plus size section in a 16/18 but the fit is not really all that oversized. It's stull super comfy and is that great piece to throw to go to shop or for brunch on a winters day. It pairs perfectly with super skinny jeans, leggings and fit and flare skirts.

I've also paired this piece with a bright read PLT beret as I needed to update my basic coloured headwear. They have an amazing selection of berets, so I'll definitely be back to order more.

As I mentioned in the last look, I had a full outfit idea planned for the stripped jumper dress but it sadly did not work as planned. But I had to shoot these boots either way!! These are my first pair of PLT shoes, and the fit is amazing. I ordered a size 10 and they fit perfectly with a size zip, lace up front and a 5.5 inch heel.

While these may look chunky and super tall (they are.) the are also super comfortable to wear and walk in. The platform to heel ration always helps to even out the height and these feel like you are wearing 3 inch boots.

These boots arrived lace with the contrasting white laces but you also get a black pair included in the box. So you can play with the bold white laces or go all black, I love having the two options.

These will be on high rotation all winter and you may see them in more and more causal shoots!

Thank you to my husband Jay for snapping these shots and to Liz for all of her help and giggles throughout the day.
