Autumn Winter Styling

Finally Autumn has hit Melbourne and I can't get enough of the world around me visually. The leaves are turning different shades of brown, gold and orange and the weather is finally getting a little cooler, well some days that is!

So with a huge bag full of Autumn/Winter styles, Robin Elk and I popped down to Fitzroy Gardens and snapped my favourite dresses, cardigans and coats for the next two seasons. With goodies from Hell Bunny, Heart of Haute, Bonsai Kitten and more, I think I've found some amazing outfits for the next few months.

From the moment this print was previewed on Facebook I was already in love. This forest animal print is filled with deer, rabbits, foxes and squirrels all mixed in to a floral rose print and it's a dream come true for me fabric wise.

Now I'm usually not one to purchase mini dresses or mod styles but there was something in the details that drew me into the Hermaline Mini, from the 3/4 sleeve and fitted bust to the Peter Pan collar and bow feature. While most minis become super mini with my bust and rump this is a perfect above the knee length.

Being large busted I was worried about my usual XL size so I ordered up and received a 2XL. Given the covered bust and Mod shape of this style it was the right choice as this just fits my bust and is a little roomy everywhere else. So if you have a bust larger than 42 inches or a cup F and above I strongly suggest the sizing up. It's all about how it fits after all and there is nothing worse than a pancake bust! While this style looks ideal for Autumn the flowing fabric allows you to wear this with bare legs and keep cool or pair with stockings and coats in the winter.

I can't get enough of this print and I already have the Hermaline Swing Skirt on my lust list. How can you not love a print with bunnies? Seriously, how?

Haunt Cardigan - $70.00

Now we mix a little bit of creeping and a whole lotta cute! After falling hard for the Ouija and Western Cardigan it was obvious that I needed to add the Haunt version to my collection. A super stretchy, warm and soft full sleeve cardigan with an amazing collection of bats both on the front and the back on the top. I love the simply flying bat featured on the front left side but at the back (as shown bellow) is an you will find the most amazing haunted house image/back patch. A must have for all spooky kooky pinups. I wear all Hell Bunny Cardigan's in a size XL and the fit is absolutely perfect. Super to the super stretchy nature of the fabric you can wear these both buttoned or unbuttoned and there is no stress on the fabric.

I paired my spooky cardigan with the most adorable swing skirt I've ever worn; the Lucy Skirt from local brand Bonsai Kitten. This full swing skirt is so easy to wear and perfectly tailored to fit my curves. Featuring a thick waist band with a red bow, piping and buttons both on the back and front this skirt really makes a statement and pairs perfectly with everything in my wardrobe. I tend to order most stretchy items from Bonsai Kitten in a size 14 and they are always a perfect fit. This skirt will fit up to a 35 inch waist so if you have any 'fit' questions please ask me in the comment section bellow or check out their size guide online which is listed on each item.

This skirt is also available in Blue/Red and Red/Black and trust me once you buy one you'll want all of them! I can't wait to pair this with more cute tops over the cooler months and then gypsy blouses in the summer.

Being a redhead I'm instantly attracted to teal but when you pair it with polka dots and bows I just can't say no! Plus the name of the dress suits both the teal/emerald shade and my hair perfectly plus it's my all time favourite Dolly tune. I picked up this lovely frock from Inspired Insanity one of my go to stores locally for petticoats, hell bunny stock and the most amazing cardigans and boleros.

Now I've tried most Hell Bunny halter neck dresses and each fits perfectly in an XL so I ordered the same in this style which is a little shorter than the usual 50's swing styles I usually wear. It fits like an absolute dream and I'm absolutely smitten with this little number. The shade and fabric might be more appropriate to summer or spring but my goal is to 'winter up' this amazing dress. I'm thinking fur collared cropped cardigans, tights and knee high lace up black boots will work perfectly.

My favourite features of the Jolene dress have to be the black faux suede ribbon detailing on the bust and the pockets - yes it has functioning pockets! While the print alone is adorable and would make a great dress these little additions bring the dress itself to a whole new level.

The Jolene pairs perfectly with my Sweet Sweater from Heart of Haute but lets me honest I think every dress on planet earth works with this ballet style cover up.

Hell Bunny Aberdeen Dress in Green Plaid - TBA

Now heading towards the more winter themed outfits! I wanted to take two of my favourite pieces and pair them together. Usually these two items are worn on their own but from the moment they arrived I wanted to wear them as a set. The Aberdeen Dress is a deep green and blue check print with a sweetheart neckline and full skirt. It's a simply yet stunning dress but when paired with the Kathleen blouse and that pussy bow a new style is born!

These two pair seamlessly together and I love the look I've created. Both items are a size XL and while the Aberdeen Dress is a fits well with a little extra room at the waist yet great on the bust and arms the Kathleen is a tiny bit tight on my chest.

This is normal for me and while I size up usually this is not really a huge issue for me. The pussy bow covers the buttons so if any pull or popping occurs you don't see it and I also love wearing styles like this with a few buttons undone and the bow untied.

Both the dress and blouse come in a lighter cream shade (cream print for the dress) and they are a must have for any winter pinup wardrobe. But be sure you are 100% ok with wearing sheer shirts as this style has no lining and you will be showing your bra, this is easily fixed with a plain cami underneath but I love showing off my bra collection so the sheerness is an added bonus.

This winter I will be introducing you to many stunning new coat styles by my favourite brand but let's start with the deep green goddess that is Elvira. I have 4 long length winter coats from Hell Bunny and I have no plans to stop at that tiny amount. From the Shona to the Vivien I'm addicted to these stunning calf length winter warmers and I'm so glad to have this deep green and black fur Elvira in my wardrobe.

Featuring black faux fur cuffs and matching fur hood this is a bold choice for winter but the right choice! Hell Bunny don't skimp on tailoring, fit or quality for their coats and these are the perfect winter investment for years and years to come. The deep green pairs wonderfully with not only everything in my wardrobe but looks amazing on pale skin and red hair.

I'm wearing Elvira in an XL and the fit like all of my HB coats in perfect. Fitted with room to layer beneath and not overly bulky. If you are an hourglass like myself these style coats are your best friend come winter and will help you make the most of your curves while still keeping warm. This style is also available in all black and a deep blood red.

As you can see the both the Aberdeen Dress and the Elvira Coat work perfectly with each other and now I'm on a mission to find some stunning gloves and beret's to pair with this outfit. Any excuse to add more and more teal to my collection!

Many Thanks to Robin Elk for shooting this magical little set with me!
