The Perfect Dress

If there is one style that I adore above all others within the Wheels and Dollbaby range it would have to be the cupcake top. From the ruffled neckline, to the adorable little charm, 3/4 sleeves and amazing fit this style has forever had my heart.

So imagine my surprise when a few months ago I was told by the team at Dollbaby HQ that they were designing a true Wheels and Dollbaby classic with yours truly in mind! I have to admit at my mind was blown with such news and I was not yet told what the exact design would be! Taking inspiration from me? Really? I adore this label and I've been working hard to help all of the curvy girls around the globe wear their amazing designs so it was such an honour to hear that my curves and style has inspired them enough to create a dress with me in mind, with the nickname of the 'Teer Dress'.

So last week I was lucky enough to receive my surprise package and finally got to find out what the style was! I was like a kid at Christmas stalking the Star Track service until it reached my door. I ran home from work dying to finally try on the dress that was made for me.

Much to my surprise my dream dress was inside! I've always wished for this amazing style to be released in a swing version and I'm so very honoured to know that I was in Melanie's mind when creating this absolutely perfect little black dress.

Made from a super soft black cotton and features a low scooped neckline, pleated a–line skirt, and coquettish ruffled trim on the neck and 3/4 sleeves. A plush velvet bow and signature Wheels and Dollbaby pearl charm complete this classic Wheels style and it's those iconic little details  that make my heart sing.

What I love most about this style has to be the double ruffle layer on both the neckline and the sleeves. A mixture of french maid, Mary Antoinette and modern pinup styling makes the cake ruffle my new go to little black dress.

I wear a 14 or 16 in most ruffle cake styles and for this shoot I'm wearing the 16 but with the amount of stretch I could have even sized down to a 14 with ease. The low cut neckline with ruffle detail is the perfect frame for my ample bust and I love how this style hugs all my curves. With the perfect mix of classic tailoring and figure flaunting features it's perfect for me!

Length wise the skirt hits just above my knees and the pleats flow perfectly from the waist down creating that hourglass flaunting swing style I love so much. I know a few followers, friends and readers wanted to see this in full on my body and I really hope these shots help you guys!

The Ruffle Cake dress is a must have for any Dollbaby and with such a great price tag it's an affordable wardrobe classic. I can't wait to see more prints or colour ways of this in the future as I love the navy and white stripe and leopard tops.

Thank you Melanie and the team at Wheels and Dollbaby for thinking of me with design. It's really amazing to see a designer label looking after girls of all shapes and sizes with size expansions and more flattering items for girls size 14 to 18 we can rock lots of dollbaby styles.

Many thanks to Liz at L12 Photography for shooting these brilliant images and my spooky styles coming up next week!

  1. It's a great dress and good price too!! I find WDB sometimes too pricey and hence I never got them when I was living in Oz but this one is so super duper cute!! Would make such a great piece for Halloween styling too! I do love those ruffles!!
