Stop Starring!

When I first started to get into the pinup style of dressing I think my first ever frock was from Stop Starring! I've seen their dresses all over the press and the classic tailoring is loved by many Hollywood starlets.

I've admired their classic shapes, perfect wiggle dresses and vintage attire for a while now but I had not slipped into a dress from their line for around 4 or 5 years. I originally had 3 amazing dresses in my collection but I was a size 2x at that point so when I shrunk they left my wardrobe for new lives.

But I have always kept my eye on all new stock and when I saw this dress I had to have it! Although I'm always more inclined to wear a wiggle dress apposed to a full skirted dress the feminine shape and print called to me.

Photobucket

Stop Staring Rose Swing Dress - $150.00US

Made of a gorgeous rose print drapey fabric that feels glamorous to the touch. The fabric has little to no stretch, if you are in between sizes, please order up. Dress is fully lined. Off the shoulder (kimono) sleeves are very accentuating to your neckline. Overlapping bust detail shows the perfectly modest amount of skin. Midriff and waist are fitted, and fall into a full swing skirt.
Link
Photobucket

The print just pops on my fair skin and I adore the flattering cut of this dress it really make your waist look tiny. I'm wearing this style in a 14 (which is a 1x via the size chart) which is a little roomy but you know my obsession with waist belts so this was easily fixed. I think if I was to order this knowing the fit I would have got a Large with my measurements. But due to the style its not a loose fitting issue at all.

The fabric falls perfectly and like many other swing styles I've worn this dress makes you want to twirl and dance up a storm. I think I need to wear it out this weekend!

Photobucket

The bust will also look great with ample or not ample bosoms. This cut has a deep v bust line but this will suit large and smaller chests.

There are so many new styles online right now via the Stop Starring! Webstore from pinup perfection to 40's inspired suits and retro separates.

This location is LuWow at 62-70 Johnston Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065. You can also book at table or ask any questions via bookings@theluwow.com or simply by calling on 03 9417 5447

Se7en Deadly

Se7evn Deadly - Deviously Divine Offerings to Soothe a Sinner's Soul.

'With the launch of se7en deadly in early 2010 comes a new genre in alternative fashion and the home decor industries that we refer to as "Elegantly Macabre" Its unique designs twist together the core of the Se7en Deadly Sins, the graceful Victorian era, and the harsh grunge of a traveling circus in the Great Depression. The Se7en Deadly brand seamlessly juxtaposes ancient religious carvings, medical oddities and curiosities, and forbidden subject matters, to create a collection of alternative clothing, eerie accessories and vintage inspired art. Much like a quick glimpse into a sideshow tent, Se7en Deadly is unusual, new and alluring.'

Se7en Deadly are pretty much a one stop shop for those whole love the Macabre - which I do very much. You can purchase clothing for women, men, kids, artwork and accessories.

Bellow are my 2 favorite tees and 1 cami.

Photobucket

Heavens Sinners Cami - $32.99US

I'm wearing this style in a size X-Large and it is a snug fit just the way I like to wear my cami's and t'shirts. I love the lace detail on both the bust and the bottom of this top. The large skeleton print is brilliant and it's really flattering on your curves. This cami also comes in black with a white print if red does not take your fancy.

Photobucket

I paired this up with my favorite Sportsgirl stole and my black disco pants. I used the same pants for each item to show just how rock and roll these tees look with a shinny pair of awesome pants.

Photobucket

Embalming V-Neck Tee - $32.99US

Because I was unsure of the sizes for this brand I got this top in an XX-Large but sadly it was far too big, I've taken it in myself but think in the future a size down would be the perfect size. I love this print and the low cut v-neck!

Photobucket

The print is fun, creepy and has one a stunning very vintage hearse featured front and center. The print and text does make people double take which always makes me giggle.

Photobucket

Vanity Kills V-Neck Tee - $32.99

I first saw this design on Pinup Girl Clothing and wanted it instantly but sadly they sold out. So this is how I came to find Se7en Deadly's webstore, just by looking for this top! I'm wearing this style in a X-Large and I think its perfect! Unlike the other two tops that are not sheer this fabric has a burntout effect which is really cool. Also available in crimson.

Photobucket

The print is really bold and I think out of all 3 this is my stand out favorite. It hugs my curves, shows the right amount of cleavage and is perfect for jeans, disco pants, shorts and high waist skirts.

I'm going to be featuring many more tops in the next few months as I feel like I own more jeans and skirts than tees, cardigans and shirts.

After having another look on the webstore I think these will be going straight onto my new years wishlist.

To match my tee the Red Embalming Fluid Cardigan - $48.99

Thank you to Giuseppe Dante Sapienza Photography for shooting these with me. Check out his website or facebook.

This campaign features the face of ghd, Katy Perry fitting perfectly into the role of a 20's inspire Snow White and The Evil Queen shot by the brilliant David LaChapelle.

The finger waves, sleek curves and shine on her hair would make Ziegfeld's Follies green with envy. I also can't take my eye off the shoes in the Evil Queen image!

So this Christmas I will be putting a ghd Scarlet Collection on my wish list not only for the superior straightening ability but also the amazing accessories.

Tiki Time!

New styles and prints have arrived at Hell Bunny and I'm loving them! As soon as it gets warmer here I start sneaking more and more colour into my wardrobe. Right now I'm mad about florals, Hawaiian print and anything bold!

I wanted to feature a few new items from the Autumn/Winter 2011/12 range and show you what are my stand out favorites right now.

If you want to know a local store or another online store that ships to your area contact Hell Bunny via the facebook fan page as they will be able to tell you of your nearest stockist for all items.

Photobucket

Kiki 50's Dress - £54.99
Long Black Ruffle Petticoat -
£30.99
Lace Bolero Shrug - £17.99
Link
Photobucket

My stand out favorite of all my Hell Bunny dresses this little Hawaiian frock is adorable! I love the print, the length, colours and the bust! I'm wearing this style in the XL and it is a snug fit for me. This dress comes in sizes XS-XXL.

It sits perfectly as a swing dress should naturally but I wore the Hell Bunny black petticoat underneath to add a little more shape. This is the best length dress to wear with this range of petticoats. It peaks through a tiny bit at the bottom which just makes it even cuter! The belt is my own.

Photobucket

For those girls like me who are not totally confident with their arms they have also created this adorable black lace shrug that matches most of their dresses. With this dress I've worn it tied up loosely.

Please note that this is a halter neck dress but I whipped out the needle and thread making into a simple strap dress within 10 minutes. I can unpick this with ease if I want to make it a halter once again.

Photobucket

Hawaiian 50's Dress - £54.99
Lace Bolero Shrug - £17.99
Luichiny Angel Lina Wedge in Cobalt - $84.95US

Hawaiian/Floral and little pinups all over - Oh hell yes! This is the same style halter as the two I modeled in my previous Hell Bunny Post. I'm wearing this style in an XL which is very roomy and accommodating (I'll need to buy Larges from now on in this cut). This style and print with many more now come in sizes XS to 4XL!

Photobucket

Unlike most of the styles you will currently find this version comes with it's own fabric belt in black. I would rather a thicker fabric in my waist belts but this does the job and matches perfectly.

I'm wearing the Shrug once again but this time I've tied it at the back and folded/tucked it into the dress.

How amazing is this location? In Melbourne we have been blessed with the most fantastic venue this year.

LuWow - Lush cocktails, exquisite rums, amazing decor and groovy vintage dance tunes over a large two room space in darkest Fitzroy. Offering two sections to accommodate functions, events, private parties, dancing or just a few cocktails with friends.

The "Island Village" offers shady booths in individual huts, exotic sounds, table service and the relaxed tempo of a South Seas holiday. A traditional Polynesian bar to rival the best the world has to offer. Open for cocktails and Island Music every Wed - Sun.....5pm till Late

The "Forbidden Temple" a feast of exotica with claws! Lost in a dark steamy jungle, ablaze with precious jewels and terrible idols a ruined pagan palace beats to the sound of Bongos and lost vinyl rhapsodies. LinkOpen every Fri & Sat.

This is my new favorite place to hang out! From the drink to the dancing, the music to the staff it is really funky. The bartenders won me over instantly the moment they served me a White Long Island Ice Tea with a giant pink tentacle garnish.

You can find LuWow at 62-70 Johnston Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065. You can also book at table or ask any questions via bookings@theluwow.com or simply by calling on 03 9417 5447

I've shot 2 more outfits inside this bar so you have not see the last the amazing backdrops!

Thank you to Steve Pinirou who worked with me on these images and 2 other outfits that I will post about shortly. It was an absolute blast shooting with him in my dream location and I can't wait to work with him again. You can find his website here or his facebook page here.

Charles My Love!!

Charles of London, an Independent Rock'n'Roll clothing label.

Clothes for Freaks, Guys and Dolls, Radiowavers, Twisters, Punks, Slags and Romantics......oh, and you Sucker!

Link

I stumbled across Charles of London's webstore by chance one day and feel in love with the rock'n'roll/punk styling and wild fabrics used through out the designs. They sell women clothing, menswear and a whole heap of unique accessories.

Deep down not matter how often I change my look or clothing styles I am always going to be alternative and I'll always go back to my rock chick roots. Charles of London is perfect for bringing out that side of me.

I wanted to show and review my two favorite piece available via the webstore.

LinkPhotobucket

Rock'n'Roll Justice Biker - £120
GMK Cuff - Prices vary

Words alone cannot describe just how much I adore this jacket. I'm a huge fan of item of clothing featuring the union jack so when I saw this print it had to be mine. With a huge iron on transfer image and swarovski diamante detail it is the most awesome jacket I've ever owned!

How perfectly does my new GMK cuff go with this outfit? This cuff rocks! It's strong, very rock'n'roll and is large enough to be an awesome statement piece. Although you can't get this specific design as they are all unique you can find so many brilliant items on line now. Before the year is through I need two more cuffs, a smaller every day cuff and another statement piece!

Photobucket

American Apparel Disco Pants - $82US (US store)
Luichiny Angel Lina Wedge in Cobalt - $84.95US

So as the site states this jacket rocks HARD! I'm wearing this biker jacket in a size L which works perfectly for my measurements (always listed at the top of the blog). It fits snug just the way I think a biker jacket should fit and hits my belly button/waist like for a cropped length.
Link

Paired with my bright red Disco Pants from American Apparel and blue wedges from Luichiny. I love the overly matched colours in this outfit and each matches perfectly with the red and blue in the jacket. I've also got a pair of Disco Pants that would look great with this outfit but I will blog about them at another point. Disco pants are brilliant I'd wear them 24/7 if I could.

These Luichiny Pumps are so high yet so comfy and the colour is perfect for colour blocking or just adding a bright pop of colour to an outfit. The wedge and base make for a very comfortable shoe but I'm not game to wear these out dancing just in case I trip over myself as I do most days. These will feature in two more shoots/posts as I'm matching them with everything at the moment!

Monster Stip Dress - £80

If you know me well you know I absolutely adore Frankenstein. I'm not sure what appeals to me about this big green dopey monster but I love him to death.

I'm wearing this little mini dress which was originally a higher neckline but I requested something low cut and this was the result. A very funky zipper (not functional) edge around the bust. I am wearing a size L in this design also.

Photobucket

The style is rather short on me but with my assets most minis become extra minis so I'm use to the length. This monster and silver paint fabric is exclusive to Charles of London and comes in other styles and clothing options.

Teamed up with my Spliced Pleather Jacket from City Chic and my Simply Be Stockings £16.00 I chose the black jacket and stockings as I wanted the dress to be the main feature and I think it goes well.

Sadly my stockings after only one wear met their maker after having a run in with a piece of Velcro. These stockings are stunning so I'm very sad to see them go.

Unsure of sizes? You can email the lovely people behind this label via the contact page and they will answer all your questions.

Thank you once again to the uber brilliant Giuseppe Dante Sapienza Photography for working with me! If you are local and you'd like to add to your folio or even just book a fantastic shoot get in touch with Dante via his website or facebook. He is so much fun to shoot with I love days when I get to pop into his studio!
